Christmas fellowship

The annual Tenth District Christmas Fellowship will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.

Lewis, Long to perform

Little Roy Lewis, Lizzie and Rebecca Long and friends will be picking and singing at the Metasville School House on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. Ladies of Rehoboth Baptist Church will furnish refreshments. The public is invited.

Town hall meeting

The CSRA Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging will hold a town hall meeting Dec. 14, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Henry H. Brigham Senior Center, Augusta to discuss programs and services for older seniors and boomers. Suggestions are sought and will be appreciated.

Pick up at pantry

To all families who are due to pick up groceries at the Lincoln County Food Pantry on Thurs., Nov. 26: you will pick up on Mon., Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon.

Path of Christmas

"The Path of Christmas" will be presented Dec. 13, 14, and 15th at Lincolnton First Assembly of God. Tickets are free but must be gotten ahead of time at the church office, Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce of Crawford-Breazeale Drug Store.

Sleigh rides will run through the woods every 15 minutes from 6 - 8 p.m. Come enjoy live nativity, Dickens carolers in period costumes, festival of trees and the Christmas cafe.

Tree of Remembrance

A light "In Honor" or "In Memory" of can be placed on the Remembrance Tree for $1 donation per name. Registers for the names are displayed at the following locations: Lincolnton City Hall, City Pharmacy, Crawford-Breazeale Drug Co., Farmers State Bank, Farmers and Merchant Bank, Goldman and Wengrow and Jericho Florist. You may also mail requests to Mrs. Laura Spratlin, P. O. Box 463, Lincolnton, Georgia 30817. Names will be listed in the Lincoln Journal each week.

In addition, registers will be available on November 21st at Pioneer Days at the Historical Park.

Drop-in breakfast

A drop-in breakfast will be held Sat., Nov. 28, 8 - 11 a.m. at the Lincolnton Clubhouse to honor Mayor Biggerstaff, who will retire at the end of this year. The public is invited.

Pastor anniversary

The pastoral anniversary of Rev. Willie J. White will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Dec. 6 during regular worship service at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Gold Walton will be guest minister.

Letters to Santa

It's almost time for Christmas! The Lincoln County Library will be taking letters from parents for their children to the North Pole. Include items wanted for Christmas, their name, address, family or pets name, etc. Cost is $5. Proceeds will go to the CSRA Alzihmers Association. Deadline will be Dec. 14.

Christmas concert

Musical Nov. 29

Faith Tabernacle is having a musical on Nov. 29 at 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this program is to draw lost souls to Christ and renew the spirit of the found. Everyone is invited.

Choir anniversary

The Harmony Baptist Church Choir will be celebrating its "6th Choral Anniversary" on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 3:00 pm. All are invited and welcomed to come help us lift up the name of Jesus in song!

Candlelight service

The Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual "Missionary Candlelight Service" on Sunday, December 20, 2008 at 5:00pm. Rev. Ray C. Lewis and Tabernacle Baptist Church will be in charge of the service.

Bridge games

Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday. The restaurant is open immediately before and immediately after the game that begins at 1:30 Monday afternoon.

The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm. Both games are open to all interested players at all skill levels.

Although it is best to bring your own partner, we will always try to find you a partner. The Monday game is sanctioned by the ACBL, and master points are awarded. Players are not required, however, to be members of the ACBL.

H1N1 vaccines

Lincoln County Health Department now has H1N1 Flumist, open to all children ages 2-24 without asthma or other severe medical conditions, healthcare workers up to age 49 and caregivers of children less than six months old. Quantities are limited.

Hadley to speak

The Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, R. J. Hadley will be the guest speaker at the Lincoln County Democratic meeting Mon., Dec. 7 at the Lincoln County Library Annex at 7 p.m. All are welcome.

CWC luncheon

December provides opportunities for holiday gatherings with family and friends, sharing traditions, songs, and favorite foods.

We invite you to attend the Savannah River Christian Women's Connection Luncheon, "Our Christmas Gathering". We will meet on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at Tara Country Club from 12:30pm - 2:00pm. The cost of the luncheon is $13.00.

Ms. Ann Hart will share how she searched for the missing pieces to her puzzle and what happened when she finally found them.

Our guests will be entertained by Ms. Jean Anderson. She will share two song selections for our enjoyment. She will sing a song for the season and a song for the reason of the season.

Garbage pick up

For customers whose garbage pickup day is usually Thursday, your garbage will be picked up on Fri., Nov. 27 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas program Wed., Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Fruit donations will be given to senior and homebound members. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Secret Santa Sunday

Huddle House is donating all money received for desserts sold on Sundays, during the month of November to their Secret Santa Program. Stop by Huddle House for a great dessert and help the children of our area have a happy Christmas this year. Or you can forgo the calories of the dessert and just make a donation straight to the program. They are also accepting new, unwrapped toys any time.

Those needing assistance this Christmas can pick up an application for the Secret Santa program at the Huddle House anytime, 24/7.

FFA fruit sale

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit comes to the Lincoln County Health Department once a month..

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information and to schedule an appointment for Nov. 30 or Dec. 22.

Bake, yard sale

Ebenezer Baptist Church Women Mission will hold a bake and yard sale Sat., Nov. 21 from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 148 N. Peachtree St., Lincolnton.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
