Eagles Landing to visit Lincolnton
Eagles Landing Christian Academy, the #2 seed from Region 5, scored late to defeat Athens Academy 23-18 and earn the right to travel to Lincolnton next Friday in the second round of the Class A playoffs. ELCA has the most potent offense in Class A, averaging over 40 points per game and riding a 9-game winning streak. The game will be a replay of last year's second round game when our Devils won 7-0.
The winner of next week's game will play the winner of Savannah Christian vs. Miller County. Both schools withstood late rallies Friday night in the first round. Savannah Christian defeated Irwin County 14-10, and Miller County edged Brookstone 33-27.
Warren County had a chance to score in the closing minutes but came up short of upsetting 6-A champ Darlington. The Tigers won 16-14 and will now play Commerce, a 29-19 winner over Landmark Christian. The Darlington-Commerce winner will play the winner of Twiggs County and Chattahoochee County. Twiggs whipped Savannah Country Day 43-14, and Chattahoochee outscored Seminole County 34-27.
