Thomas Beck Steed Jr.
Mr. Thomas Beck Steed, Jr., 89, of Florence St., entered into rest on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Ga.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Revs. Paul C. Reviere and Dan Rosser officiating. Interment followed at Lincolnton City Cemetery.
Mr. Steed was the son of the late Thomas Beck Steed, Sr. and the late Olive Eugenia Lang Steed. He was a retired Lieutenant Commander with 24 years of service in the United States Navy serving in active duty during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Steed was also retired Lincoln County Clerk and served with the Red Cross. He was a member and a faithfull servant of Lincolnton Baptist Church where he served as church treasurer and as a deacon.
Mr. Steed was preceded in death by his wife Norma Wolfe Steed.
Survivors include one son, Marcus Steed and wife, Susan of Powder Springs, Ga.; one daughter, Norma Joyce Wilkie of Corpus Christi, Texas.; one sister, Eugenia Baker of Cedartown, Ga.; five grandchildren, Donald Allen Wilkie, Thomas Allen Steed, David Lang Wilkie, Michael Lee Steed and wife, Cheryl and Natalie Martinez.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Aycock, Bob Steed, Ed Turner, Thomas Allen Steed, David Lang Wilkie and Charles Ware.
