Mrs. Emma Lee Murphy Pound, 96, entered into rest on November 9, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 13, at Pleasant Grove CME Church with Rev. Dr. Walter Clayton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Pound was a native of Burke County and a member of Pleasant Grove CME Church.

She leaves to mourn one daughter, Regina F. Murphy of Lincolnton; one sister, Leola Hankinson of Jacksonville, Fla.; three brothers, Moe (Sally) Murphy and Dunkan Murphy of Wadley, Ga. and Sim (Vanessa) Murphy of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Reginald (Cynthia) Elam of Hephzibah, Ga. and Rodrick Elam of Lincolnton.

Norris W. Gunby, Sr. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
