James Willie Harris Sr.
Mr. James Willie "Giant" Harris, Sr., 72, passed away at his residence on Friday, November 6, 2009.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 9 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. John Jordan officiating. Interment followed at Antioch C.M.E. Church cemetery.
Mr. Harris was born in Wilkes County to the late W.C. Harris and the late Jaunita Brown.
He spent most of his life as a truck driver and was a member of Antioch C.M.E. Church and Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge #6.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers and two sons.
Survivors include six daughters, First Lady Bessie (Bishop Johnaton) Wallace Sr., of Baltimore, Maryland, Velva Wade of Appling, Ga., Julia Parks and Jessica Smith, both of Lincolnton, Ga., Evelyn Bentley of Washington, Ga., and Jaunita Harris of Augusta, Ga.; three sons, Pharris Tutt of Lincolnton, Claude (Sandra) Harris and John Harris of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Anna Hamrick of Washington, Ga.; two brothers, Joe (Ruby) Parks of Greenwood, S.C. and Robert Parks of Washington, Ga.; two sisters-in-law, Pastor Elizabeth Harris, of Lincolnton and Mary L. Harris of Lexington, N.C.; two brothers in-law, Robert Andrew Jones, Sr., and Robert Lee Jones, both of Washington, Ga; a special friend, Ruby Rouse and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; one-great-greatgrandson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Derick Gladman, Wayne Searles, Greg Harris, Charles Curry, Tommy L. Harris, and Jerry Wade.
