LORENA BURKE GOOLSBY Mrs. Lorena Burke Goolsby, 88, of Maxim Road, entered into rest Friday, November 13, 2009 at Lake Crossing Health Care in Appling, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 15 at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. James James and Donald Brady officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Goolsby, daughter of the late Ace and Maude Rowland Burke, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. She was retired from Lincoln County Elementary School Food Services.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Goolsby; a son, Wendell Goolsby; a sister, Margaret Story; and brothers Hoyt, John, AD, and Rudorph Burke.

Survivors include a son and daughter in-law, Clifton Goolsby and wife, Arlen; daughter and son-in-law, Sue Ashmore and husband, Bill; a brother, Grady Burke; grandchildren, Dave Ashmore, Donna Aycock, Ricky Goolsby, William Goolsby, Winona Spires, Brandon Goolsby and Austin Goolsby; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
