Development authority to sponsor Leadership Lincoln
Would you like to discover more about your community? The Lincoln County Development Authority will again host Leadership Lincoln. The program will create an opportunity for individuals to join together and exchange ideas with current leaders for the purpose of networking for local community improvements while gaining more in-depth information about our city and county.
Leadership Lincoln 2010 will begin in January and conclude in May. A graduation banquet will be held in May honoring the programs participants and sponsors. Each class member is expected to attend all four, fullday sessions of the program to receive maximum benefit and to graduate. On May 6, 2010 the Leadership Lincoln class will have the opportunity to attend a Regional Forum-facilitated by the UGA Fanning Institute and hosted by Leadership Columbia County. This will give Leadership Lincoln participates the chance to meet other leadership class members and leaders to discuss what we can do better to grow and co-partner in our communities. This will be a great opportunity to work together and form some great friendships and networks.
Throughout the four month program, Leadership Lincoln participants will gain valuable insight to the responsibilities of community leaders and resources available as well as service initiatives by both city and county entities. By engaging in interactive assignments, participants will raise their community awareness and action. Participants will take part in team building exercises and follow up with day sessions that focus on the key elements constituting economic development.
Program cost is $100 per individual, which helps to cover the cost of meals, program speakers, materials, facilities and transportation. Tuition is generally paid by the participant's employer or sponsoring organization, but may be paid by the student. Since tuition does not cover the full cost of the program, Leadership Lincoln is also seeking sponsors as well as potential scholarships for those needing financial assistance.
Leadership Lincoln strives to develop a diverse class of people from business, government, banking, education, social service, health, and nonprofit organizations as well as residential community. Nomination forms will be mailed to all chamber members. Citizens interested in participating may contact the Develop- ment Authority office at 706-359- 7970, email us at mailto:lcda@lincolncountyga.com, or stop by the Welcome Center and pick up a Leadership Lincoln application. All nominations and applications must be in by Friday, December 11, 2009.
Anyone desiring to improve their leadership abilities and overall knowledge of the community is encouraged to submit an application for participation.
