Adult softball reg.

Lincoln County Recreation Department is taking team registration for fall league of adult softball. Contact Kathie at 706-359-2236 for more information.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.

Lewis, Long to perform

Little Roy Lewis, Lizzie and Rebecca Long and friends will be picking and singing at the Metasville School House on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 26 at 7 p.m. Ladies of Rehoboth Baptist Church will furnish refreshments. The public is invited.

Board anniversary

The Usher Board of Pleasant Grove CME Church, 2245 Augusta Hwy., will celebrate its anniversary Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. Rev. Freddie Neal and Harmony Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Walter Clayton is pastor.

Drawing Nov. 21

The Lincoln Lifers team of the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life will hold a raffle for two lap blankets at Pioneer Day on Sat., Nov. 21. You may also purchase hand written Christmas ornaments.

Tree of Remembrance

A light "In Honor" or "In Memory" of can be placed on the Remembrance Tree for $1 donation per name. Registers for the names are displayed at the following locations: Lincolnton City Hall, City Pharmacy, Crawford-Breazeale Drug Co., Farmers State Bank, Farmers and Merchant Bank, Goldman and Wengrow and Jericho Florist. You may also mail requests to Mrs. Laura Spratlin, P. O. Box 463, Lincolnton, Georgia 30817. Names will be listed in the Lincoln Journal each week.

In addition, registers will be available on November 21st at Pioneer Days at the Historical Park.

Drop-in breakfast

A drop-in breakfast will be held Sat., Nov. 28, 8 - 11 a.m. at the Lincolnton Clubhouse to honor Mayor Biggerstaff, who will retire at the end of this year. The public is invited.

Christmas fellowship

The annual Tenth District Christmas Fellowship will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Pick up at pantry

To all families who are due to pick up groceries at the Lincoln County Food Pantry on Thurs., Nov. 26: you will pick up on Mon., Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon.

Thanksgiving prog.

The annual combined Thanksgiving program of Mulberry CME Church and Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will be held at Newberry on Tues., Nov. 24 at 7 p.m.

Pastor anniversary

The pastoral anniversary of Rev. Willie J. White will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Dec. 6 during regular worship service at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Gold Walton will be guest minister.

Letters to Santa

It's almost time for Christmas! The Lincoln County Library will be taking letters from parents for their children to the North Pole. Include items wanted for Christmas, their name, address, family or pets name, etc. Cost is $5. Proceeds will go to the CSRA Alzihmers Association. Deadline will be Dec. 14.

Jazz concert at ASU

The Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band will present "Jazz From A Different Perspective" Sat., Nov. 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre, Augusta State University, 2500 Walton Way. There is no charge for this concert.

Path of Christmas

"The Path of Christmas" will be presented Dec. 13, 14, and 15th at Lincolnton First Assembly of God. Tickets are free but must be gotten ahead of time at the church office, Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce of Crawford-Breazeale Drug Store.

Sleigh rides will run through the woods every 15 minutes from 6 - 8 p.m. Come enjoy live nativity, Dickens carolers in period costumes, festival of trees and the Christmas cafe.

Christmas concert

Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir will sponsor a Christmas Concert Sat., Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. All church choirs or individuals are invited to come out to the first rehearsal Sat., Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. Contact Shavonne Cody-Fuller at 706-945-0122 or Shelby Lewis at 706-760-0312. Barbecue plate sale

Bethany United Methodist Church Men's Club will have a pork steak barbecue Nov. 21 at the church from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Plates will cost $6 with proceeds going to mission projects in the county. See members for tickets. Call 706-359-7262 for further information.

Pastor's anniversary

Parks Grove FBH Church will celebrate its pastor, Tonita Cody's, eleventh anniversary on Sun., Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. Pastor Kimberly Leverett of Elberton, Ga. will be guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Musical Nov. 29

Faith Tabernacle is having a musical on Nov. 29 at 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this program is to draw lost souls to Christ and renew the spirit of the found. Everyone is invited.

Weight Watchers meet

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., Nov. 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Guest speaker will be Wade Johnson, chairman for Lincoln County, addressing changes in the county. Also on the agenda will be keeping the flame lit, donations accepted at Farmers State Bank. Don't forget your flu shots. Everyone is welcome. Come be a part of the CCLC.

Garbage pick up

For customers whose garbage pickup day is usually Thursday, your garbage will be picked up on Fri., Nov. 27 due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Barbecue plate sale

Parks Grove Holiness Church will have a chicken and rib barbecue plate sale Sat., Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. until sold out. Plates can be purchased at Bills Car Wash on Hwy. 378 across from Rockin' R. Proceeds will go toward pastor appreciation.

Christmas prog.

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas program Wed., Dec. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Fruit donations will be given to senior and homebound members. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Bible study Thurs.

You are invited to a Community Bible Study each Thursday Night at Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W. We are discussing, "Jesus in a World Gone Bad."

Popcorn fund-raiser

Secret Santa Sunday

Huddle House is donating all money received for desserts sold on Sundays, during the month of November to their Secret Santa Program. Stop by Huddle House for a great dessert and help the children of our area have a happy Christmas this year. Or you can forgo the calories of the dessert and just make a donation straight to the program. They are also accepting new, unwrapped toys any time.

Those needing assistance this Christmas can pick up an application for the Secret Santa program at the Huddle House anytime, 24/7.

Collecting box tops

The Pine Needle Garden Club is collecting "Box Tops for Education" for our elementary school. Please drop off your box tops at Bell's, Papa's Pizza or Crawford & Breazeale Drug Store. Thanks for your support!

FFA fruit sale

The FFA of Lincoln County High School is now selling citrus fruit and apples. Call any member or contact Dennis Gay at 359-3121 or at dgay@lincoln.k12.ga.us for information. The deadline for ordering is Nov. 20.

Op. Christmas Child

Morningside Baptist Church will be the drop off place for Operation Christmas Child Nov. 16 - 20, 4-6 p.m.; Nov. 21, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.; Nov. 22, 9-11 a.m. If you are unable to come at this time, call the church office Mon. - Thurs. from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and we will set up a time with you.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit comes to the Lincoln County Health Department once a month..

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information and to schedule an appointment for Nov. 30 or Dec. 22.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Bake, yard sale

Ebenezer Baptist Church Women Mission will hold a bake and yard sale Sat., Nov. 21 from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 148 N. Peachtree St., Lincolnton.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

Bible study

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Bridge games

Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday. The restaurant is open immediately before and immediately after the game that begins at 1:30 Monday afternoon.

The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm. Both games are open to all interested players at all skill levels.

Although it is best to bring your own partner, we will always try to find you a partner. The Monday game is sanctioned by the ACBL, and master points are awarded.
