Cox selected as top five finalist in radio contest
Participants were asked to send in a song clip (60 seconds or less) as a sample of their talent. The song clips of the five finalists were then posted on the station's website, www.wafj.com, and listeners were encouraged to vote for their favorite. Shannon Cox received third place and her song clip was aired on the radio Monday morning, November 2. She will also be performing two songs at the Columbia County fair on Tuesday evening, November 10 at 6:30 p.m.. The song clip she chose was "Tis So Sweet" from the CD she recorded in 2004. Benton Belangia, also from Lincolnton, engineered the CD. This particular song is done acapella in three-part harmony. Shannon re- corded all three parts and Mr. Belangia mixed those harmonies to record a beautiful trio version of the traditional hymn. Shannon, 33, was born and raised in Lincoln County. She is the daughter of Leon & Carol Cox, and the granddaughter of the late Ross & Eunice Reese and the late James & Doris Cox. She is a member of First Assembly of God where she sings in the adult choir, directs the Kindgom Kidz choir, teaches first and second grade girls in the MPact club on Sundays, and is a member of the MAPS missions team. She is the billing/office manager for Michelle Mason- Woodard, MD and teaches part-time in the medical office program for Augusta Tech in Thomson. |
