LCES Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair will be at Lincoln County Elementary School beginning Friday, October 30 through Wednesday, November 4 during normal school hours and Thursday, November 5 from 8 a.m. until 1p.m.. A special family event will be held Tuesday, November 3 from 3-5 p.m.. Hope to see you there!

Adult softball reg. Lincoln County Recreation Department is taking team registration for fall league of adult softball. Contact Kathie at 706-359-2236 for more information.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo.

Class reunion

The class of 1974 will celebrate it 35th high school reunion Sat., Nov. 2, 7 p.m. at Tara Clubhouse. If you are planning on attending, please provide a current email or street address by calling Larry Ramsey at 706-513- 3513. A letter will be mailed to you with details of the reunion.

Anniversary celebration

The Usher and Usheretts of Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate their 82nd anniversary on Sun., Nov. 1 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Charles Lacy and Mt. Pleasant and Mt. Nebo Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. Rev. Ray C. Lewis is pastor.

Organizational meeting

If you think Pioneer Day, scheduled for November 21, is fun for spectators, think of how much more fun it is to be on the inside helping to put it on.

There will be an organizational meeting for all personnel involved in Pioneer Day on Sunday October 25 at 2:30 pm in the May House at the Lincoln County Historical Park.

All persons interested in volunteering for Pioneer Day are highly encouraged to attend. The Historical Society needs your help to put on a quality event

Final Lewis concert Come to the Lewis Family Pavilion at the Lincoln County Historical Park on the evening of November 7th for the Lewis Family's Final Concert.

The Park will open at noon, Little Roy Lewis will be doing Parking Lot Pickin' from noon until four, and the show will start at 6 pm.

Jeff and Sheri Easter will open, and the Lewis Family will follow at approximately 6:45 pm.

A $10 donation gets you in to a memorable evening of Bluegrass Gospel Music with the Lewis Family.

The Lincoln County Historical Society will sell their great Hot Dogs and Barbeque Sandwiches starting at noon, so plan to come out for lunch, dinner and great music!

Society meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society's November meeting will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, November 4 at the May House. The agenda will include planning for Pioneer Day, the Lewis Family Final Concert and the Christmas Tour of Homes. Pioneer Day volunteers are still needed. Bring a covered dish and join us for lunch.

Class of 2000 to meet The class of 2000 will hold a meeting on Sat., Nov. 7, 12 noon, at the Lincoln County Library to plan a reunion.

Pastor anniversary

Harmony Baptist Church will be celebrating the 6th Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor Freddie Neal, Sr. and Sis. Kathy Neal on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Rev. Clarence D. Hill of Mount Transfiguration Baptist Church in Aiken, SC will be the guest preacher. All are invited and welcomed to come help ss lift ip the name of Jesus!

Music program

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Oct. 31 at 6 p.m. with The Echols of Joy and other groups. The public is invited. Admission is free.

Firefighters to meet

The Lincoln County Firefighters Association will hold its quarterly meeting on Oct. 29, 7 p.m. at Martins Crossroads VFD. All members are invited and asked to please attend.

Cheer Devil for a day

Any little girls 4 years old - fifth grade are invited to be a Cheer Devil for a day. Girls will be taught cheers and a dance routine to perform for the pre-game show for LCHS vs. Warren County. Cost is $20 and includes admission to the ball game for participant and a snack on the day of practice. For more information contact Britt McKinney at LCHS, 706- 359-3121. Pantry closed Thurs.

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will close on Thurs., Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. to attend the funeral of their volunteer, Mrs. Polly Ann (Martha Jo) Gainey, who's funeral will be at 2 p.m.

Barbecue plate sale

Bethany United Methodist Church Men's Club will have a pork steak barbecue Nov. 21 at the church from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Plates will cost $6 with proceeds going to mission projects in the county. See members for tickets. Call 706-359-7262 for further information.

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party will meet Mon., Nov. 2, 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.

Spooktacular family night

The Annual Spooktacular Family Night will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sat., Oct. 31 at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Fall revival

New Work Baptist Church will be having a Fall Revival November 16- 18 at 7:00 pm. Pastor Ben Glossan from Southside Baptist Church in Hazelhurst, Ga. will be bringing the worship message each evening.

Halloween dance

A Halloween dance/costume party will be held at American Legion Post 194 on Sat., Oct. 31. A prize will be awarded for best costume. Highway 104 band will perform. For more information, contact 706-359-3445.

SALS to meet

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will meet Nov. 10, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend. Remember, you are working and representing veterans that have served our country and freedom and for the ones who are still serving.

Holiday pageant

The Lincoln County Community Partnership will hold its Little Mr. and Miss Holidays pageant Nov. 14 for participants four years old to fifth grade. Entry forms may be picked up at 115 Main St. Deadline for entry is Nov. 5. Call 706-359-5769 for more information.

Women's ministry prog.

Tabernacle Baptist Church Women's Ministry will have a program Sun., Nov. 15 at 2 p.m. Minister Naomi Cobb of New Tabernacle Baptist Church will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited. Rev. Ray C. Lewis is pastor.

Energy assist. prog.

The Energy Assistance Program will begin accepting applications Mon. and Tues., Nov. 2 and 3rd at the Lincoln County Clubhouse for 65 years and older households to pay their home heating costs. Applications will also be accepted Nov. 12 and 13th from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. only at The Lincoln Center.

Family, friends service

White Rock Baptist Church, Lincolnton, will host its annual Family and Friends worship service on Sun., Nov. 8 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Victor Thomas and Greater Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Augusta, will be in charge of the service. A great program is being planned and the public is invited to attend.

Play in Elberton

Unless the Lord Builds the House, Its Builders Labor in Vain, a play written, directed and produced by Pastor Toni Aye, comes to Elbert Theatre Sat., Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the Elbert Theatre Box Office, 203 Elbert St., at the door the night of the event, or by calling 706-283-1049.

Barbecue sale

Pine Grove United Methodist Church will have its annual whole hog barbecue sale Sat., Nov. 7. Meat and hash only. Meat is $8 per pound and hash is $5 per pound. You may pick it up at Reed Propane between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. No tickets will be sold.

Tignall Fall Fest.

The 8th Annual I'd Rather Be In Tignall Fall Festival will be held Sat., Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Independence Street, Tignall, Ga.

Come celebrate fall with music, arts and crafts, food, games, face painting, etc. Cash prizes will be given during the day.

TIA/NAACP to meet

The T.I.A./NAACP will hold a special meeting concerning the sewer system at the American Legion Post #597, Thomas Lane, on Mon., Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m.

All Black Jack residents are encouraged to attend. Special guests will be Mr. Wade Johnson, chairman of commissioners, Mr. Cooper Cliatt, district 3b commissioner and Roby Seymour, director of water and waste.

Auditions in Elberton

Encore Productions of the Elbert Theatre will have auditions for The Music Man on Thurs., Nov. 12 and Mon., Nov. 16 at 5:30 p.m. in the Elberton Arts Center. Come prepared to read from the script and sing a short song of your choosing. Please bring music for your song on CD or sing a cappella. The play will be held in February, 2010.

Graduation testing

The fall retesting for the Graduation Test will be held Mon., Nov. 2 - language arts; Tues., Nov. 3 - math; Wed., Nov. 4 - science; Thurs., Nov. 5 - social studies.

All tests will begin promptly at 8:15 a.m. Students and others who have not passed all parts of the Graduation Test are urged to participate.

Secret Santa

Huddle House is donating all money received for desserts during the month of November to their Secret Santa Program. Stop by Huddle House for a great dessert and help the children of our area have a happy Christmas this year. Or you can forgo the calories of the dessert and just make a donation straight to the program. They are also accepting new, unwrapped toys any time.

Fall festival Nov. 1

Loco Baptist Church will host a Fall Festival Nov. 1 at 6 p.m. Activities will include a hot dog supper, cake walk, crafts and games for the kids and a hay ride for the kid in all of us. Everyone is invited.

GMBC meets in Rome

The General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Inc. will meet in Rome, Ga. Nov. 9 - 12, 2009.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit comes to the Lincoln County Health Department once a month..

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Interpreted sermons

First Assembly of God has begun a new ministry to reach the hispanic community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The sermons are now interpreted via a microphone/ earphone system. Those who do not understand English wear earphones and the service is translated by Ms. Isabel Garrett. Anyone who knows of someone who might benefit from this ministry is asked to call the church office at 706-359-7237.

Women's retreat

The 2009 Lincoln County Women's Retreat will be held Nov. 6 - 8 at Camp Daniel Marshall in Lincolnton. Registration deadline is Oct. 23 and cost is $65, scholarships are available. AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Weight Watchers meet

Weight Watchers meets every Sat., 9 a.m. at Morningside Baptist Church. The church is located at 483 Elm Street (Augusta Hwy.) in Lincolnton. For more information, please call 359- 1370.

Bridge games

Duplicate bridge games will be held weekly at two area locations. The first is at Hickory Knob State Park restaurant every Monday. The restaurant is open immediately before and immediately after the game that begins at 1:30 Monday afternoon.

The other game is held on most Thursdays at the Savannah Lakes Village Activity Center in McCormick at 6:30 pm. Both games are open to all interested players at all skill levels.

Although it is best to bring your own partner, we will always try to find you a partner. The Monday game is sanctioned by the ACBL, and master points are awarded. Players are not required, however, to be members of the ACBL.

Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
