GBA 225th anniversary celebration continues
The Georgia Baptist Association will celebrate 225 years of God's goodness with a schedule of special events. As the first Baptist Association in the state, it is also the mother to many Southern Baptist Convention and Georgia Baptist Convention entities.
Greenwood Baptist Church in Lincoln County will host us on Wednesday night as we celebrate Sunday School and VBS Emphasis. Our keynote speaker will be Dr. David Francis from LifeWay Christian Resources, the literature publisher for the Southern Baptist Convention. Our service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on October 14.
Thursday, October 15, we will emphasize the importance of higher education with Dr. Dan Parker from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary as our keynote speaker. Little Brier Creek Baptist Church in McDuffie County will serve as our host and the service will begin at 6:30 p.m.
On Friday night, October 16, we will celebrate God's goodness with a concert at Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez with number one recording artists, The Akins. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and a love offering will be taken.
Saturday will be a mission emphasis with a fair at Washington First Baptist Church from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Ministries from the Georgia Baptist Convention will be present to display the resources that are available to our churches. Lunch will be provided and live music will be presented during the day.
At 5:00 p.m. at Tignall Baptist Church the youth will celebrate with Lazarus Unwound in concert. Rev. Scott Kindig will be the keynote speaker and we will give away prizes to those in attendance including an MP3 Video Player. Pizza will be served after the service.
On Sunday morning, October 18, missionaries from the Georgia Baptist Convention will be speaking in the churches of the association. At 3:00 p.m. we will begin our historic 225th Annual Meeting followed by a service that includes Dr. J. Robert White, executive director of the Georgia Baptist Convention, as keynote speaker.
We will end the day and the celebration with a covered dish meal. Washington First Baptist Church will host us on Sunday and we want to invite everyone to attend as many of our services as possible. We will never have another opportunity to celebrate 225 years of God's goodness to the Georgia Baptist Association.
