Keith Williamson (pictured) of Lincolnton captured third-place honors at the final Walmart FLW Series BP Eastern Division Tournament of the season held September 16-19 at Clark's Hill Lake. Keith Williamson of Lincolnton weighed in as one of the top five pros at the final Walmart FLW (Forrest L. Wood) Series BP Eastern Division Tournament of the season held Wednesday, September 16, through Saturday, September 19, at Clark's Hill Lake.

The winner of the tournament was Tom Mann, Jr. of Buford, who caught a five-bass limit on Saturday weighing 14 pounds, 9 ounces to clinch the top spot, along with a $122,007 purse. He amassed a four-day catch of 20 bass, weighing a total of 51 pounds, 2 ounces.

Mann was also named the "Land O'Lakes Angler of the Year" at the end of the tournament. The title goes to the FLW BP Eastern Series Pro- Division angler who has the highest year-end point total in the standings at the conclusion of the regular season. The angler secured the crown on Clark's Hill Lake by a mere one point in a race that went down to the final day of the regular season.

In other tournament results, the second-place winner was Chris Martinkovic of Liberty Township, Ohio, who caught a total of 18 bass, weighing 39 pounds, 4 ounces. He was followed by Williamson, with 19 bass, weighing 39 pounds, 4 ounces.

Commenting on his tournament win, Williamson said, "I've been tour- nament fishing for several years, but this is the first time I've won anything quite this big. It was awesome.

"One of the best moments was sitting on the hot seat (a special boat) waiting to see if somebody would weigh in with more than I had. But the best moment was when I learned I had won third place and $38,803."

Williamson was sponsored by Buckeye Lures of Martinez, Lakeside Marine in Appling, G. Loomis fishing rods, Evinrude Motors, and of course, his wife of 20 years, Cathy Williamson.

"She fixed me a very nice dinner the day after I won," he added. "We had Boston butt, collard greens, fried cornbread, sweet potatoes, and homemade pound cake."

When he is not out on the lake, Williamson is a self-employed contractor.

Capturing fourth place in the tournament was Craig Johnson of Martinez (19 bass — 39 pounds, 1 ounce), while the fifth-place winner was Keith Hutto of Evans (18 bass — 36 pounds, 10 ounces).

The Walmart FLW Series BP Eastern Division Tournament was hosted by the Columbia County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The series is named after Forrest L. Wood, widely acknowledged as the developer of the modern bass boat and the legendary founder of Ranger Boats.
