Homecoming activities shift into high gear on Monday

Homecoming Week at LCHS and LCMS shifts into high gear on Monday, September 28.

Sponsored by the LCHS Student Council and the LCHS Varsity Cheerleaders, the special week will feature a parade, which will be held immediately after school on Friday, October 2; a dance that night; and of course, "Dress Days."

The schedule for Dress Days is as follows:

.. Monday — "Nerd Day:" Students are asked to put masking tape on their glasses, wear pocket protectors, and do whatever else it takes to appear at their "nerdiest."

.. Tuesday — "Flashback Day:" Students are asked to raid their parents, grandparents, or even greatgrandparents' closets to find clothes reminiscent of another decade. It promises to be a day filled with poodle skirts, wide ties, platform shoes, leisure suits, white bucks, saddle oxfords, baby doll dresses, and plenty of Vitalis.

.. Wednesday — "Wacky, Tacky Day:" Polka-dots, orange jeans, stripes, plaids, lime green pants — nothing has to match. The sky's the limit!

.. Thursday — "Cammo Day:" On this day, camouflage is king. Cammo earrings, socks, scarves, bowties, purses — the more unusual, the better.

.. Friday — "Red Devil Spirit Day:" Students are asked to wear their best red and white finery to show support for LCHS.

Then, on Friday evening, the Homecoming Court will be presented, and the Homecoming Queen and Princess will be crowned at halftime during the game between LCHS and Aquinas High School at Buddy Bufford Field.

The Homecoming Dance is scheduled to take place in the school cafeteria following the game, with DJ Jason Crook. The Homecoming King and Prince will be crowned at this time.

"We are looking forward to all of the activities associated with homecoming," said Sheila Wilkes, student council advisor. "It will be a wonderful week, so plan on having fun."

Those with questions about the homecoming festivities may contact Wilkes at 706-359-3121.

She went on to add that the Senior Recognition Ceremony, which is usually held in conjunction with homecoming, will take place on Friday, November 6, prior to the Lincoln County-Warren County game.
