Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Adult softball reg.

Lincoln County Recreation Department is taking team registration for fall league of adult softball. Contact Kathie at 706-359-2236 for more information.

Clothes Closet sale

Lincoln County Clothes Closet will be having a "$3 Pack the bag" sale Thurs., Fri. and Sat., Aug. 27, 28, and 29. This is a great end of summer and fall savings!

Choir anniversary

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Choir will celebrate its anniversary Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Rev. Robert Crawford is pastor.

Health challenge

The Lincolnton Health Challenge is a free weight loss and nutrition program offered by Dr. Daryl Wiley. Meetings take place each Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Lincolnton Church of Christ - 1832 Highway 220 W. Classes focus on healthy eating and cooking, nutrition, exercise and are done in a group atmosphere. Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Aug. 31 and Sept. 30.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more infor- mation

Class of 74 to meet

Class of 1974, our 35th celebration is being planned for Nov. 28, 2009 at the Tara Clubhouse of Savannah Lakes. There will be a meeting on Aug. 30, 4 p.m., at the Lincoln County Library to finalize our celebration. 4-H Day at UGA

4-H Day at UGA. The Lincoln County Extension office has tickets available for the Nov. 7, 2009 UGA vs. Tennessee Tech football game, cost is $50.

Consignment sale

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will host its semi-annual kids consignment sale Thurs., Aug. 27 from 6-8; Fri., Aug. 28 from 9-6; and Sat., Aug. 29 from 8-12.

Barbecue cookoff

The Harlem Complete Count Committee along with the United States Census will present "Everybody Counts Barbecue Cook Off and Sauce Contest" Sat., Sept. 12 at the Harlem United Methodist Church field with live entertainment, vendors, blowups for the kids and good food. Cooking begins at 7 a.m.; music starts at 11 a.m.; judging begins at 3 p.m. and winners will be announced at 4 p.m. with cash prizes to the winners.

School Days luncheon

Women's Connection "School Days" Luncheon on Wed., Sept. 9, at Tara Country Club from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Cost of the luncheon is $13 per person.

All guests are encouraged to show their school spirit by bringing in donations of teacher/student supplies to contribute to their needs.

Luncheon guest will be Ms. Pat Crawford of "School Tools." and Ms. Joan Poche, a southern belle who says she was a "Rebel - just because."

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Youth choir anniversary

The Willie Crew Youth Choir of Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church invites the public to share in their 17th anniversary on Sat., Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. Everyone is invited.

Society meeting

The Lincoln County Historical Society will having a meeting on September 2 at 12:00 pm at the May house. Bring a covered dish and join us for lunch.

Tuesday prayer

True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Anniversary celebration

The Deacons and Deaconess of First Baptist Church will celebrate their anniversary Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Smith and Macedonia Baptist Church of Augusta will be in charge of service. Every church is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Youth service

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have youth service Aug. 30 at 9:30 a.m. There will be a puppet show. Minister Tonya of Abundant of Life, Augusta, will be guest minister. The public is invited. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Two-day event

Tabernacle Baptist Church will host its two day Family and Friends event Sat., Sept. 26, 9 a.m. grill and bake off; judging at 1 p.m. On Sun., Sept. 27, 2 p.m. Rev. Freddie Neal and Harmony Baptist Church will be special guests.

Faith Tabernacle will sponsor a "Fill the Pew" outreach program Sun., Aug. 30 at 4 p.m. Rev. DaNag A. Rockett, senior pastor of Ambassadors for Christ Ministers will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Women's conference

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church's Women Ministry will host a Women's Conference Thurs., Aug. 27 - Sat., Aug. 29. Guest speakers will be: Thurs., 7:30 p.m., Missy Dorothy Walden of Thomson; Fri., 7:30 p.m., Pastor Bostic of Union, S.C.; and Sat., 10 a.m., Minister Antoinette Carson of Atlanta.

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party will meet Mon., Aug. 31, 7 - 8 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Guest speaker will be Frank Bates, Director of Special Services, Department of Technical and Adult Education.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Season tickets on sale

Reserved seats for the 2009 Red Devil Football Season will be on sale at the school's ticket window beginning Mon., Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

If you have purchased season tickets in the past your seats will be held until Wed., Aug. 26, at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list. Please notify Nancy Hardeman at 706-359-3121 or 359-3069 if you do not wish to purchase your seats. The cost is $40 for the season.

Family, friends day

Pastor's anniversary

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate Pastor Fred Perriman's fifth anniversary Sept. 20 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Martin and Antioch Baptist Church of Augusta, will be our special guests. The public is invited.

Revival at Mt. Zion

Family reunion Sept. 5

The Willingham and Barksdale family reunion will be held Sat., Sept. 5 and Sun., Sept. 6. The celebration will kick off on Saturday with a fish fry starting at 6 p.m. at the home of D'metric and Derrick Barksdale. On Sunday all family and friends will gather for dinner starting at 3 p.m. at the Barksdale residence, 4416 Thomson Hwy, Lincolnton. Please do not miss this opportunity to come out and have a great time with family and friends.
