Elder Thomas will speak at Mulberry CME revival

ELDER JANE E. THOMAS ELDER JANE E. THOMAS Presiding Elder Jane E. Thomas, first female Presiding Elder of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, Sixth District, will be the guest speaker during the annual summer revival at the Mulberry CME Church, August 19-21, 7:00 p.m. nightly. Elder Thomas currently serves the Macon/Barnesville District of the Central Georgia Region.

She answered the "call of God" and was licensed as a local preacher in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, June 16, 1984. As a pastor, she served various churches throughout the Central and West Georgia Regions in the cities of Savannah, Jeffersonville, Marshallville and Cordele, Georgia. On July 28, 2006, Pastor Jane Elizabeth Thomas made history when she was named the first female Presiding Elder of the Sixth Episcopal District and the state of Georgia by Presiding Prelate, Bishop Othal Hawthorne Lakey. This was just a crescendo of a mighty work that God ordained.

Presently, Elder Thomas is a volunteer in the Newton County School System, supporter of the Rainbow Community Center in Porterdale, Georgia and the Middle Georgia Community Youth League, Lizella, Georgia. She serves as the Sixth Episco- pal District representative and chaplain on the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Commission on the Concerns of Women in Ministry.

Mulberry will culminate the week of religious services with its 136th church anniversary, Sunday, August 23, 2009, 2:30 p.m. Dr. Johnny R. Hatney of the Good Hope Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited. Rev. George Glenn is the pastor.
