Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

NA meetings

N.A. meetings are held at the Lincoln County Library from 6 - 7 p.m. every Friday. For more information, please call 706-359-5808.

Final planning meeting

The final meeting for the Westside Elementary and High School Class of 1972 will be Sat., Aug. 22 at the Picadilly Restaurant on Washington Road in Augusta at 5 p.m.

Dist 1 meeting

Commissioner Darrell Henderson from District 1 will host a Town Hall Meeting on Aug. 18, 7 p.m. in the meeting room at Midway V.F.D. Station 1. The station is located on Midway Church Rd., next door to the precinct 1 voting house.

Current county affairs will be discussed. All questions and comments are welcome. Refreshments will be available.

Health challenge

The Lincolnton Health Challenge is a free weight loss and nutrition program offered by Dr. Daryl Wiley. Meetings take place each Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Lincolnton Church of Christ - 1832 Highway 220 W. Classes focus on healthy eating and cooking, nutrition, exercise and are done in a group atmosphere. Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Aug. 31 and Sept. 30.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health depart- ment at 359-3154 for more information

Class of 74 to meet

That's right Class of 74, it's been 35 years since we left Lincoln County High. Our celebration is being planned for Nov. 28. 2009. There will be a meeting on Aug.30, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library to finalize our celebration. Revival at Solomon Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have revival Aug. 20 - 22 at 7:30 p.m. Thurs. and Fri. night, and at 6:30 p.m. Sat. night. Aposite Roberta Lock of North Carolina will be the guest speaker. The public is invited. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Aug. 20, 6:30 p.m. at the library. Guest speaker will be Carrie Parker, manager of the Lincoln County Food Bank. Also on the agenda, living wills and advance directives for medical decisions (medical power of attorney, do not resuscitate). Everyone is welcome. Come be a part of the CCLC.

Consignment sale

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will host its semi-annual kids consignment sale Thurs., Aug. 27 from 6-8; Fri., Aug. 28 from 9-6; and Sat., Aug. 29 from 8-12.

Reunion meeting

The family of Abe Hogan and Maude Hogan will meet Aug. 16, 5 p.m. at the home of Walter and Teresa Ware. For information call 706-359-6424 or 706-401-3640.

Homecoming service New Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming Aug. 16 at 10 a.m.

Following Homecoming will be a three night revival, Aug. 17 - 19 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. Abraham Mosley of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Athens, Ga. Everyone is invited. Rev. Matthew Harden is pastor.

Epps fund

A fund for Tyler Epps has been set up at Farmers State Bank. Any contributions may be mailed to P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, GA 30817. Make checks payable to Tyler Epps Fund. Thank you in advance for any contributions and your prayers.

Community cookbook

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is creating a Community Cookbook. We are looking for recipes, children's artwork, and local businesses to advertise. We are looking for a minimum of 500 recipes. Please contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 to receive a submission form.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Q&A session

Dist. 4 Commissioner, Rob Robinson will host a question and answer session at 6 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 17 at the Lincoln County Library. Chairman Johnson will also be there to answer questions.

Church anniversary

Mulberry C.M.E. Church will be celebrating it's 136th church anniversary, Aug. 23, at 2:30 p.m. Reverend Johnny R. Hatney, pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Consignors wanted

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is looking for consignors for its semi-annual kids consignment sale which will be held Aug. 27 - 29. Cosignors receive 60% and missions receives 40%. Please contact the church office at 706-359-4339 for more information.

Homecoming service

Homecoming services will be held at Antioch C.M.E. Church Sun., Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. Rev. George Glenn and Mulberry C.M.E. Church will be special guests.

Anniversary celebration

The Deacons and Deaconess of First Baptist Church will celebrate their anniversary Sept. 27 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Smith and Macedonia Baptist Church of Augusta will be in charge of service. Every church is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Tenth Dist. meeting

The Annual Tenth District Congress of Christian Education will convene at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, 1434 Popular St., Augusta, Ga. on Sat., Aug. 22 at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Melvin Adams is president of the Tenth District.

Fellowship service

True Fellowship invites you and your congregation to its fellowship service at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 30.

The Lincolnton Church of Christ will host a free car diagnostic and minor repair service from 8:00 to 12:00 on Aug. 8 and Aug. 22. Let us help you during these hard economic times. Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will meet Thurs., Aug. 13, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend. Please remember to bring your items for the food pantry: mayonnaise, salad dressing and vinegar.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Summer revival

Mulberry C.M.E. Church will be celebrating its annual summer revival, Aug. 19-21, 2009, starting at 7 p.m. Presiding Elder, Jane Thomas of Macon/ Barnesville District of the Sixth Episcopal C.M.E District, will be the guest revivalist. Rev. George Glenn is pastor.

St Luke revival

St. Luke Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming Aug. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Following homecoming there will be a three night revival Aug. 17 - 19 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. F.D. Favors of Spring Field Baptist Church of Thomson, Ga. Everyone is invited. Rev. Alvin Rivers is pastor.

Two-day event

Tabernacle Baptist Church will host its two day Family and Friends event Sat., Sept. 26, 9 a.m. grill and bake off; judging at 1 p.m. On Sun., Sept. 27, 2 p.m. Rev. Freddie Neal and Harmony Baptist Church will be special guests.

First Baptist Church will have revival services Aug. 24 - 27 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Quartet to perform

Steadfast Quartet will be singing at Calvary Baptist Church, 2121 Union Point Hwy., Greensboro, Ga. on Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. This is a free concert, a love offering will be taken.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Country supper

A country cooking supper will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Sat., Aug. 22, 6 - 8 p.m. Cost is $7 per plate. All proceeds will benefit Jacob and Melissa Turner Rodriguez.
