Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

NA meetings

Ritchie to perform

Charlotte Ritchie will be in concert at the Tignall Baptist Church in Tignall on Sunday August 9 at 6:00 p.m.. A love offering will be taken.

Homecoming at New Work

New Work Baptist Church is having Homecoming celebration August 9 at Camp Daniel Marshall. The worship service will begin at 10:30am, with Pastor Charles Swan bringing the worship message. There will be a covered dish meal directly following the service.

Repub. to meet

The Lincoln County Republican Party will meet on Aug. 25, at the library at 7 p.m. The Sergeant at Arms challenge question will be " What is the highest that retail sales have ever been in Lincoln County?" To which all who wish to attend the meeting must reply "How high would 2010 retail sales have to be so that the 1% SPLOST would cover the new school bond payments and avoid raising property taxes on senior citizens?" All other passwords remain the same.

Health challenge

The Lincolnton Health Challenge is a free weight loss and nutrition program offered by Dr. Daryl Wiley. Meetings take place each Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Lincolnton Church of Christ - 1832 Highway 220 W. Classes focus on healthy eating and cooking, nutrition, exercise and are done in a group atmosphere. Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on Aug. 31 and Sept. 30.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Class of 74 to meet

That's right Class of 74, it's been 35 years since we left Lincoln County High. Our celebration is being planned for Nov. 28. 2009. There will be a meeting on Aug.30, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library to finalize our celebration. Revival at Solomon Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have revival Aug. 20 - 22 at 7:30 p.m. Thurs. and Fri. night, and at 6:30 p.m. Sat. night. Aposite Roberta Lock of North Carolina will be the guest speaker. The public is invited. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

CCLC to meet The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Aug. 20, 6:30 p.m. at the library. Guest speaker will be Carrie Parker, manager of the Lincoln County Food Bank. Also on the agenda, living wills and advance directives for medical decisions (medical power of attorney, do not resuscitate). Everyone is welcome. Come be a part of the CCLC.

Consignment sale

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will host its semi-annual kids consignment sale Thurs., Aug. 27 from 6-8; Fri., Aug. 28 from 9-6; and Sat., Aug. 29 from 8-12.

Reunion meeting

Homecoming service New Tabernacle Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Homecoming Aug. 16 at 10 a.m.

Following Homecoming will be a three night revival, Aug. 17 - 19 at 7:30 p.m. nightly with Rev. Abraham Mosley of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Athens, Ga. Everyone is invited. Rev. Matthew Harden is pastor.

Community cookbook

Bin go is Friday The Linco lnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is creating a Community Cookbook. We are looking for recipes, children's artwork, and local businesses to advertise. We are looking for a minimum of 500 recipes. Please contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 to receive a submission form.

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Freeland-Crawford reunion

The annual reunion of Freeland- Crawford family descendants of James Manning Corey Freeland and Caroline Augusta Butler Freeland will be held Aug. 9, 12:15 p.m. at Plum Branch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Plum Branch, S.C. Please bring a picnic lunch and tea.

Consignors wanted

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is looking for consignors for its semi-annual kids consignment sale which will be held Aug. 27 - 29. Cosignors receive 60% and missions receives 40%. Please contact the church office at 706-359-4339 for more information.

Final planning meeting

The final meeting for the Westside Elementary and High School Class of 1972 will be Sat., Aug. 22 at the Picadilly Restaurant on Washington Road in Augusta at 5 p.m.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will meet Thurs., Aug. 13, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend. Please remember to bring your items for the food pantry: mayonnaise, salad dressing and vinegar.

Free auto diagnostic

The Lincolnton Church of Christ will host a free car diagnostic and minor repair service from 8:00 to 12:00 on Aug. 8 and Aug. 22. Let us help you during these hard economic times. Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

A class reunion meeting for the classes from Lincolnton Colored High School, Lincoln County Training School and West Side High School will be held Aug. 9, 4:30 p.m. at the library. Everyone is encouraged to attend, we are finalizing plans for the class reunion.

Open house at LCES

Open house at LCES will be held Thurs., Aug. 6 at 5:30 - 7 p.m. Grade orientations will be held for Pre-K - 5:30 - 6; second and third grade - 6 - 6:30; fourth and fifth grade - 6:30 - 7.

Season tickets on sale

Reserved seats for the 2009 Red Devil Football Season will be on sale at the school's ticket window beginning Mon., Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

If you have purchased season tickets in the past your seats will be held until Wed., Aug. 26, at which time they will be released to those on the waiting list. Please notify Nancy Hardeman at 706-359-3121 or 359- 3069 if you do not wish to purchase your seats. The cost is $40 for the season.

Country supper A country cooking supper will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, Sat., Aug. 22, 6 - 8 p.m. Cost is $7 per plate. All proceeds will benefit Jacob and Melissa Turner Rodriguez.

Ladies luncheon

The Savannah River Christian Women's Connection Luncheon will be held Wed., Aug. 12 at Tara Country Club from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Cost will be $13 per person.

The annual summer revival will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Mon. - Thurs., Aug. 10 - 13 at 7 p.m. Rev. Daniel Ramsey, pastor of Smith Grove Baptist Church will be guest minister. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor. Everyone is invited.

Homecoming Aug. 9

Ebenezer Baptist Church will hold Homecoming services Sun., Aug. 9 beginning at 10:45 a.m. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Q&A session

Dist. 4 Commissioner, Rob Robinson will host a question and answer session at 6 p.m. on Mon., Aug. 17 at the Lincoln County Library. Chairman Johnson will also be there to answer questions.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association planning meeting will be held Thurs., Aug. 13, 11 a.m. at Mary Willis Library in Washington. All retired educators are invited.
