Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

NA meetings

N.A. meetings are held at the Lincoln County Library from 6 - 7 p.m. every Friday. For more information, please call 706-359-5808.

Covered dish lunch

A lake level celebration and covered dish lunch will be held at the Lincoln County Historical Park Aug. 5. Please bring your dish at 11:30 and visit for a while. The blessing will take place at 12 sharp so those needing to get back to work can take a plate with them.

This celebration is to thank God for our rain and to salute the Corps of Engineers for filling up all three of our lakes.

LCFA to meet

The Lincoln County Fireman's Association will meet July 30 at the Lincoln County OES office on School St. A meal will be served at 7 p.m. All firemen from all the districts in Lincoln County are asked to please attend. You will get a chance to meet the new EMS Director.

Revival at Pine Grove

Pine Grove United Methodist Church will have revival services with Evangelist Donald Walton Sun., Aug. 2 - Fri., Aug. 7 at 7 p.m. nightly. On Sun., Aug. 2, morning services will begin at 11 a.m. with evening services at 7 p.m. A fellowship dinner will be held Wed. at 6 p.m. as well as an ice cream social on Friday following the service.

Barbecue plate sale

Lincolnton City Fire Dept. will sale barbecue chicken plates Sat., Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Plates cost $6 each. First come, first served.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department on July 21 and Aug. 31.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Church anniversary

First Baptist Church will celebrate its church anniversary July 26 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. A.J. Richardson and Clifford Grove Church will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

VBS at First Assembly

Vacation Bible School is set to begin Mon., July 27 at First Assembly of God and will run through Fri., July 31 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Children in grades K-4 through sixth grade are invited to join us each night as the Boomerang Express takes a train ride through the Land Down Under and kids discover the vastness of God's love. Revival services

Annual revival services for Harmony Baptist Church in Lincolnton, will be held Mon., Aug. 3 through Thurs., Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. each night. Rev. Kids Camp at FCC

Faith Community Church will host Kids Camp July 26 - 29 at 7 p.m. nightly for ages 5 - 11. Check-in time will be 5 p.m. Preregistration cost is $30 or $35 on the day of camp. Call Shannon Rentz at 706-726-0863 for information.

Consignors wanted

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is looking for consignors for its semi-annual kids consignment sale which will be held Aug. 27 - 29. Cosignors receive 60% and missions receives 40%. Please contact the church office at 706-359-4339 for more information.

Community cookbook

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is creating a Community Cookbook. We are looking for recipes, children's artwork, and local businesses to advertise. We are looking for a minimum of 500 recipes. Please contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 to receive a submission form.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Fish fry Sat.

Beulah Baptist Church, Hwy. 79 N. at Gills Point Rd., will have a fish fry and bake sale Sat., July 25 at 6 p.m. All proceeds will go toward paving the parking lot at the family life center. Take out orders are available for the fish fry.

Tuesday prayer

The annual reunion of Freeland- Crawford family descendants of James Manning Corey Freeland and Caroline Augusta Butler Freeland will be held Aug. 9, 12:15 p.m. at Plum Branch Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Plum Branch, S.C. Please bring a picnic lunch and tea.

Student registration

New student registration for Lincoln County Elementary School will be held Tues., July 21, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Open house will be held Thurs., Aug. 6, 5:30 - 7 p.m. with orientation for Pre-K, kindergarten and first grade - 5:30 - 6 p.m.; second and third grade - 6 - 6:30; and fourth and fifth grade - 6:30 - 7. The first day of school is Fri., Aug. 7.

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Church anniversary

Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church, 2245 Augusta Hwy., Lincolnton, will have its annual three night summer revival July 29 - 31. Special guests will be: Wed. - Rev. Gene R. Dean, St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Sparta, Ga.; Thurs. - Rev. William Bass, Fremont Temple Baptist Church, Augusta, Ga.; Fri. - Rev. Steven Smith, Butler Creek A.M.E. Church, Augusta.

LCFA to meet

The Lincoln County Fireman Association will meet July 30, 2009 at the EMS office on School Street. A meal will be served starting at 7 p.m. We would like all firemen from all Lincoln County districts and the Lincolnton district to please attend. Meet the new EMS director.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Evening service

True Fellowship Pentecostal Church in Lincolnton will have evening service Sun., July 12 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Peggy W. Zellars of Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries. The public is invited. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Repub. to meet

The Lincoln County Republican Party will meet Tues., July 28, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the Library. The secret pass word to get in is "Fair Tax."

Open house at LCES

Open house at LCES will be held Thurs., Aug. 6 at 5:30 - 7 p.m. Grade orientations will be held for Pre-K - 5:30 - 6; second and third grade - 6 - 6:30; fourth and fifth grade - 6:30 - 7.

Two day revival

Faith Community Church will have a two day revival on Sat., Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. and Sun. morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jana Alcorn. The community is invited to come and worship with us during these services.

Evening of deliverance

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have an Evening of Deliverance service Sun., July 26 at 3 p.m. There will be seven different speakers. Feel free to come and join us for an evening of deliverance.

Planning meeting
