Susie Mae Blackmon Gartrell, wife of the late George Lee Gartrell, entered into rest Monday, July 13, 2009.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at First Baptist Church with Revs. Dennis J. Quinn, Freddie Neal, Sr., and Roy D. Andrews officiating. Interment followed in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Gartrell was a native of Lincoln County, a member of First Baptist Church where she was a mem- ber of the Gospel Choir.

Survivors include one son, Jessie (Mamie) Gartrell of Augusta; four daughters, Azaree Fitzgerald of Woodbridge, Va., Mary L. Gartrell of Washington, D.C., Gertrude Kinlow and Lucille (Willie James) Sims of Lincolnton; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
