Cat tag is out of the bag
      "The Cat Tag is out of the bag!" says Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin. He is referring to the Feline Friend license plate (also known as the Cat Tag) which is now available at tag offices throughout Georgia.

Fish tournament at Cox Farm
      A fishing tournament for kids up to age 16 was held at the Cox Farm on Saturday, June 13, 2009. Twenty-one kids participated and 74 fish were caught. Following the tournament, lunch was served and prizes were given to all kids who participated.

Education and training key to economic growth
      The Great Recession is reaping a bitter harvest of job losses and deep budget cuts throughout Georgia's public education and training system. Although federal stimulus dollars are providing some temporary relief, more than $1 billion in state funding has been slashed from Georgia's K- 12 and post-secondary education budgets.

Unemployment rate up
      The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) reported today that the preliminary unadjusted unemployment rate in the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA) rose to 9.5 percent in May, up nine-tenths of a percentage point from a revised 8.6 percent in April.

DOT to reduce mowing due to budget constraints
