Dickie Cox of Washington, a first-rate drummer and singer, is set to perform at "Blues and Barbecue" on Saturday, June 13, at the Lincoln County Historical Park. A celebration of "Blues and Barbecue" will be held Saturday, June 20, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Lincoln County Historical Park on Lumber Street.

The event will feature music by the Party Time Band, comprised of Pamela Bowman, Buzz Clifford, Dickie Cox, and Harold Meads.

A brief profile of each member of the group appears below:

.. Originally from Tennessee, Pamela Bowman now lives in Augusta.

During her career, she has performed with blues greats such as William Bell, Roy C., and Miss Betty Wright.

.. Buzz Clifford has been playing some form of piano since he was seven years old when the nuns at the St. Angela Academy in Aiken recognized his potential.

Since that time, he has become one of the top jazz and blues musicians in the area.

Clifford performed many studio sessions with James Brown, who was also his manager and promoter.

.. Dickie Cox, who hails from Washington, played drums and performed back-up vocals for the Sanchez Jazz-Rock Ensemble.

Whether it's drumming or singing, he is considered a first-rate talent.

.. Harold Meads began playing the bass in 1962 and has performed with bands such as Bobby Allgood and the Celestials, Joey and the Sensations, The Cordovans, and The Burl Bates Combo with Barbara Guy.

Most local residents know Meads as a former chief of the Lincolnton Police Department.

Guests are asked to bring lawn chairs or blankets to Saturday's festivities.

There is no admission charge, but donations of canned food to the Lincoln County Food Pantry will be greatly appreciated.

"Blues and Barbecue" is being sponsored by the Georgia Grassroots Arts Program, the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, the Lincoln County Arts Council, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council.
