Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith announce the birth of their son, Daniel James, born May 4, 2009 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Va. Daniel weighed eight pounds, eight ounces and was twenty-one inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dan C. Norman of Blowing Rock, N.C. Maternal great-grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John D. Greene, Sr. of Morganton, N.C. and Mr. and Mrs. Murray T. Norman of Lincolnton.

Paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. James (Jim) Smith of Bristol, Tenn.

Daniel is at home with his parents, Ashley and Jeff and his big brother, Jacob at 16477 Old Timber Road, Abingdon, VA 24210-4891.
