Mr. Robert L. "Bobby Lee" Ashmore, Jr., 72, of Double Branches Road, entered into rest Sunday, May 31 at his residence.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 2 at Martins Crossroads Holiness Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Ashmore, son of the late Bob and Kate Burgess Ashmore, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. He retired from Milliken Mills after 30 years of service. An active member at Martin's Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church, Mr. Ashmore served as Trustee, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and on the Cemetery Committee. He was also a member and former officer of the Martin's Crossroads Volunteer Fire Dept. and

He was preceded in death by a sister, Doris A. Goolsby, and brothers, Robert W. "Bo" Ashmore, and Carl Evans Ashmore.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Walker Ashmore; his children, Steve Ashmore and wife, Roxanne, and Mandy Doss and husband, Ernie, all of Lincolnton; sisters, Irene A. Tankersley and husband, Alton, Mable A. Edmunds and husband, Robert Katrina A. Newby, Linda A. Guinn; brother, Rev. Pierce Ashmore and wife, Sue; grandchildren, Grayson Ashmore, Chase Lynn, Hillary Doss, Melissa D. Ewest, and husband, Brad, and Jonathan Doss; great-grandchildren, Shelby Ewest, Gage Ewest, and Levi Doss.

Beggs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
