TLSPS offers boating course

The lake is up and it looks like it is going to be a great summer for boating! To keep you and your passenger's safe you should take the America's Boating course taught by the Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron! America's Boating Course (formally known as the basic boating course) will be held in June consisting of four consecutive Tuesday and Friday afternoon sessions at the McCormick Public Library located at: 201 Railroad Avenue, in McCormick.

Classes will be from 1300-1600 hours (1-4pm) on June 9, 12, 16 and 19th. Advance registration is required to attend these classes!

America's Boating course is an eight hour comprehensive course for new boaters which cover all aspects of boating: right of way, boat handling, docking, anchoring, required equipment, safety, state laws, safety, aids to navigation - and more.

The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron is part of the United States Power Squadron and is dedicated to promoting boating safety. We teach America's Boating Course as a public service. Our qualified instructors teach for free. Your cost is for materials and books only: $25 a person or $30 a couple.
