The Americanism Committee through the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution recognizes Malik Beard as the winner of the Northeast Georgia District Poster Contest.

Malik was awarded a first place district award and $50.00 cash from the Samuel Elbert Chapter. And the State GASSAR awarded Malik $25.00 for placing third in the state.

Malik's theme was "Paul Revere's Ride". Posters were judged on the following criteria: Does the poster express the annual theme? Does the poster show originality by the student? Does the poster show evidence of research? Does the poster show artistic merit and creativity? Does the poster accurately reflect the historical event? Is the poster neat and visually pleasing?

With the guidance of his fourth grade teacher Mrs. Veronica Kelley of the Lincoln County Elementary School, Malik was able to artistically draw his viewpoint of the actual event which was "Paul Revere's Ride". His principal, Mrs. Bell, stated that "contest such as this is not only self-rewarding, but it actually teaches the class about events which occurred during the American Revolution."
