Malik Beard is recognized as district winner of poster contest
      The Americanism Committee through the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution recognizes Malik Beard as the winner of the Northeast Georgia District Poster Contest. Malik was awarded a first place district award and $50.00 cash from the Samuel Elbert Chapter. And the State GASSAR awarded Malik $25.00 for placing third in the state.

Dr. Edmunds is guest speaker at May meeting of CCLC
      The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County met at the library May 21, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. President Al Bean opened the meeting. Vice-president, Linda Burns welcomed members and guests and then introduced our guest speaker, Dr. Randall Edmunds, Superintendent of Lincoln County Public Schools.

Last year the children had a wonderful time participating in the camps and they produced some wonderful art work!

PLU class shows teachers how to use agriculture
      A PLU course to be offered July 14-16 at North Georgia Technical College in Martin that will show teachers how to use agriculture as a tool to teach social studies, science, math and language arts. Teachers who attend the Agriculture in the Classroom Workshop will receive numerous educational guides and resources for teachers in grades K-8.

Jr. Beta Club members travel to Williamsburg
      The Jr. Beta Club went to Williamsburg, Va. May 6 - May 10th. The trip was open to all Jr. Beta Club members and their parents. Williamsburg is one of the locations on a three year rotation that Jr. Beta takes. Last year the club visited Washington, D.C. and next year will travel to Philadelphia.

Correction
      In comments on the United States Army Corps of Engineers printed in the May 21 edition of The Lincoln Journal, Nelson Brooks was referring to the need for Lincoln County to share in the proceeds from the sale of timber cut on corps land instead of the issue of Impact Aid paid to the county by the corps in lieu of taxes.
