Those students "Promoted With Distinction" to the ninth grade during the 12th Annual Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony were: (l-r) Ciara Cosby, Ashley Asbell, Behren Bass, Alex Western, and Hailey Rosser. The 12th Annual Eighth-Grade Promotion Ceremony was held Tuesday, May 19, in the LCMS/LCHS Gymnasium.

Chelsea Norman, president of the LCMS Student Council, welcomed those present and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Addresses were then delivered by Ashley Asbell, the student with the second-highest average in the class, and Behren Bass, the student with the highest average.

Both Bass and Asbell received a plaque in honor of their achievements.

Following Bass' address, awards were presented to deserving students by the middle school teachers and administrators. Receiving recognition were:

Language Arts: Deanne Hearst, Joseph Cobb, Jessica Reid, Jasmine Benning, Ashley Asbell, Alec Burt, Behren Bass, and Hailey Rosser.

Following the awards portion of the program, certificates of promotion were presented to 87 eighth-graders by Principle Pam Carmichael, Assistant Principal Willie Harris, Assistant Principal Roderick Hilton, and Dionne Mills, school counselor.

Students with 95-100 averages were "Promoted With Distinction." Receiving special certificates in recognition of this accomplishment were Behren Bass, Ashley Asbell, Ciara Cosby, Hailey Rosser, and Alex Western.

Special certificates were also awarded to those eighth-graders who maintained averages in the 90-94 range. The students "Promoted With Honor" were Alec Burt, Joseph Cobb, Tyler Cole, Deanne Hearst, Brett Matthews, Blake Murray, Rachel Perkins, Jessica Reid, and Bekendrianna Wynn.
