Artist Sharon Taylor Padgett is offering another of her very popular Acrylic Painting Workshop on Saturday, May 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Everyone that took this workshop last time raved about it! For those of you who have always wanted to learn to paint, here is your chance! Sharon will be teaching a step-by-step acrylic painting on canvas workshop.

Each student will complete two paintings in this one-day, 5-hour workshop at the MACK. During the morning session, students (ages 17 and over) will follow the instructor in an impressionistic style landscape painting, learning how to paint sky, grass, trees and a barn.

Students will break for lunch and resume the class at 1 p.m. when they will learn how to turn their own photograph (landscape, seascape or thing) into a painting.

The workshop concludes with a half-hour critique of students work.

The cost of the class is $80 and includes two 11X14" canvas panels and all materials needed to complete the paintings. All levels of skill are welcome.

The Children's Summer Art Camps at the MACK have been scheduled. The various camps, times, etc. are listed below. You must call the MACK at 864-852-3216 to register your children for these camps by May 29. Last year the children had a wonderful time participating in the camps and they produced some wonderful art work!

.. Gourd and Abstract Painting Camp June 15-19 from 10:00 - 12:00, cost $6 (all supplies included)

.. Kids Club Reading Camp June 17, July 1, 15 and 29 from 1-4 p.m., ages 10-14, cost $10 which includes books, movie and snack.

.. Kid's Pottery Camp June 29 - July 3 from 10:00-12:00, ages 8 and up, cost $40 (all supplies included)

.. Photography and Scrapbooking Camp July 6 - 10 from 10:00 - 12:00, ages 8 and up, cost $50 (all supplies included)

The May Read and Feed will be held on Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. The book to be read and discussed for May is "The Space Between Us" by Thrity Umrigar. Helen Hutson will be offering her Basic Drawing class again beginning June 2. This is a series of five classes which will be held every Tuesday night at the MACK from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Please bring a sketch pad to the class. The cost of the class is $75.
