Youth urged to register for work readiness prog.

Using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, "Reach and Soar," comprised of concerned citizens in the community, will sponsor a summer work readiness program for local youth.

To qualify for the initiative, an individual must:

.. Be 14 to 24 years of age.

.. Live in Lincoln County.

.. Meet certain income requirements.

During the nine-week program, young people will have the opportunity to learn how to fill out a job application, how to conduct themselves in an interview, and so forth. There will also be some actual onthe job training and a stipend for participating in the program.

Registration will take place Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at 148 N. Peachtree Street in the building next to Dr. Michelle Mason-Woodard's office.

Slots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

The program is being conducted under the auspices of the One-Stop Workforce Center in Thomson.
