Community Calendar Board of elections meetings The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Living history demo Elijah Clark State Park will have Living History Demonstrations during the month of May. They will feature Colonial Medicine - May 23. Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department May 26 and June 30. Summer camp Lincoln County Family Connection will offer summer camp consisting of four sessions. Session I - June 1 - 12 and session II - June 15 - 26 is for elementary students; session III - July 6 - 17 and session IV - July 20 - 31 is for middle school students. All sessions will be from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Transportation will be provided. Cost is $40 for each 2 week session and is on a first come, first serve basis. To register, stop by Family Connection at 115 Main St. Call 706- 359-5769 for more information. New exhibit at genealogy library The Lincoln County Genealogy Library has a new hands-on exhibit. A few pieces of Georgia history are on loan to the library and we would like some help identifying these crockery, metal and glass artifacts. These were found by Nelson Brooks downstream from the first ferry across the river in this area, long before it was called Lincoln County. This ferry was started by Nelson's ancestors and later sold to the Price family who proved much better businessmen. Nelson says that his family spent too much time rolling on the river and not enough time looking after business. Nelson won't tell where he's been digging in the trash, but would like to share this Georgia history with anyone interested. Some of broken dishes probably came from England a long time ago. Outdoor expo Clark Hill Outdoor Expo will be held Sat., May 30 at the American Legion Fair Grounds, Lincolnton. We are looking for local talent in arts and crafts or food vendors.
