Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
4-H yard sale
The Lincoln County 4-H is having a yard sale on Sat., May 16 from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Extension office, 288 N. Peachtree St. (beside the Ga. Power office). Please come by and help support your local 4-H program. We have a wide variety of items for sale.
VBS at New Work
Come deep into the Amazon Rainforest as a river runner and go on expedition with the one true God at New Work Baptist Church VBS: Jungle Jaunt from May 31 - June 5 starting at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. If you have any questions please call 706- 359-1480.
Reunion meeting

Discounted tickets

Living history demo
Elijah Clark State Park will have Living History Demonstrations during the month of May. They will feature Quilting - May 16; Colonial Medicine - May 23.
These demonstrations will take place at the Log Cabin Museum area from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Mobile mammography
The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department May 26 and June 30.
Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Community cookbook
The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is creating a Community Cookbook. We are looking for recipes, children's artwork, and local businesses to advertise. We are looking for a minimum of 500 recipes. Please contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 to receive a submission form.
Benefit barbecue
Faith Community Church will have a barbecue plate benefit on Sat., May 16 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Proceeds from this event will go to Benji and Shannon Rentz, to help them with costs for their child adoption process. Tickets will be $7.
Fifth Sun. singing
Loco Baptist Church will have its traditional fifth Sunday singing May 31 at 6 p.m. with finger foods to follow. If interested in singing, please contact Barry Crosby at 706-401- 2063.
Johnson to speak
Board of Commissioner Chairman Wade Johnson will speak at First Baptist Church, 154 First Baptist St. to inform and hear the concerns of the people on May 19th, 6 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.
Election of officers
American Legion Post 194 will conduct nominations and election of officers for Legion year 2009 - 2010 on May 19. The election will be held at the post home at 7:30 p.m. Officer Installation will be held on July 18 and will include a dinner and dance. Post 194 Legionnaires are encouraged to attend, nominate and support your candidate for office.
GED/Adult classes
Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.
Breakfast May 16
Start the morning off right with a hearty breakfast. Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church will have a breakfast plate sale Sat., May 16 at 8 a.m. The yard sale will begin at 9 a.m. with all sorts of items, followed by a hot, delicious fish dinner plate sale at 10 a.m.

Revival services
First Baptist Church will have Revival Services May 18 - 21 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Monday night will be Minister Daravious Cullars; Tues. - Thurs. will be Rev. Ray Pilgrim. The public is invited.
7 Up Program
All churches are invited to come out and worship with First Baptist Church with a 7Up Program May 31 at 2 p.m. Rev. Quinn is pastor.
Homecoming at DBBC
Please make plans to be a part of Homecoming Service on Sun., May 17 at Double Branches Baptist Church. They will be celebrating their 206th anniversary. Sunday school will not be held on this day. Morning worship will be at 10:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.
Diabetic support group
The Patient Education Staff of Wills Memorial Hospital will be hosting a Diabetic Support Group meeting, May 28, at 2 p.m. in the Hospital Library. The focus of this meeting will be diet and carbohydrate counting. The group is open to the public for diabetics and their caregivers. Please make reservations by calling 706-678-9296.

Lincolnton United Methodist Church will have a yard sale May 14, 15, 16. Proceeds will go to River of Life.
Music dept. anniversary
New Tabernacle Baptist Church Music Dept. will celebrate its first anniversary May 24 at 3 p.m. The public is invited. New Tabernacle is located at 1187 Tabernacle Church Rd., Lincolnton.
VBS at St. Paul
Come discover Jesus' miraculous power at St. Paul Vacation Bible School! Power Lab will be held Sun., May 31 - Thurs., June 4. A light supper will be served nightly at 5:30 p.m., with registration at 5:25 and the Bible School program beginning at 6 p.m.
On Fri., June 5, a closing program and supper for children and their parents will be held at 6 p.m.

Golf tournament
A golf tournament to benefit the Augusta Choral Society will be held Mon., June 1 at Belle Meade Country Club in Thomson. A new Dodge truck is the hole-in-one prize.
Registration fees include a lowcountry boil lunch, prizes for best three scoring teams and other prizes.

Memorial Day ceremonies will be conducted at the Lincoln County Courthouse on May 25 starting at 11 a.m. Following the ceremony, lunch will be prepared and served by American Legion Post 194. Honor your veterans and fallen heroes.
Baseball clinic
A baseball clinic will be held at the Lincoln County Recreation Department June 1-3 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon for upcoming 3rd - 8th graders. Cost is $30 per child.

Summer camp
Lincoln County Family Connection will offer summer camp consisting of four sessions. Session I - June 1 - 12 and session II - June 15 - 26 is for elementary students; session III - July 6 - 17 and session IV - July 20 - 31 is for middle school students.

Weekend revival
Bethany United Methodist Church, 2615 Bethany Church Rd., Lincolnton, will host weekend revival services May 15, 16, 17 at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest preachers will be: Fri. - Rev. Dave Hinson; Sat., - Rev. Dan Fernandez and Sun. - Rev. Addison Belangia.

Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Community festival
Faith Tabernacle's Community Festival will be held Sat., May 23 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. This is a free public outreach event for all ages and ethnicity, with activities designed to engage, excite and encourage members of the community. There will be face painting, pony rides, volleyball, Bible trivia, talent performances, gospel karaoke, etc. Concessions will be sold.

Current juniors (rising seniors) are reminded that senior ads for the 2010 yearbook must be paid for by Friday, May 15th. Pictures and text are not due, but ads must be paid for by Friday, May 15th. Ads are $80 for a halfpage and $150 for a whole page.
