Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
We Are Family concert
"We Are Family," a concert featuring The Lewis Family, The Easter Brothers and Jeff & Sheri Easter, will be held Tues., April 28, 6 p.m. on the property of the Lewis Family home place, 1935 Lewis Family Rd.
Bring your lawn chairs and join us for a fund-raising event for the nonprofit organization for the restoration of the home place. A $5 suggested donation will be received. For more information, please call 706-359- 1997.
Breakfast buffet Come and join the Faith Community Church for its breakfast buffet which returns for one time only, Sat., May 2 from 7 - 10 a.m. All proceeds will go to the church music department.
Book sale at library
The Lincoln County Public Library will hold its bi-annual book sale starting April 29 through May 2nd. All proceeds will benefit programs sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
We have a wide selection of books from antiques to today's best sellers. Come one, come all and support your local library.
Discounted tickets
Discounted Six Flags tickets are available at the Lincoln County Extension Office, 288 N. Peachtree Street (beside Ga Power). 4-H has one date tickets available for $28.00, the gate price is $42.39. For more information call (706-359-3233) or come by. Help support 4-H in Lincoln County.
Living history demo
Elijah Clark State Park will have Living History Demonstrations during the month of May. They will feature bread making - May 2; 18th Century Children's Toys - May 9; Quilting - May 16; Colonial Medicine - May 23.
These demonstrations will take place at the Log Cabin Museum area from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Mobile mammography
The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department April 28 and May 26.
Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information
Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.
Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.
Community cookbook
The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce is creating a Community Cookbook. We are looking for recipes, children's artwork, and local businesses to advertise. We are looking for a minimum of 500 recipes. Please contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 to receive a submission form.
Benefit barbecue
Faith Community Church will have a barbecue plate benefit on Sat., May 16 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Proceeds from this event will go to Benji and Shannon Rentz, to help them with costs for their child adoption process. Tickets will be $7.
LCFA to meet
Lincoln County Firefighters Association will meet at April 30, 7 p.m. at Beulah VFD. All members are encouraged to attend. Dues are due at this meeting.
Reunion meeting
The Blackmons and Wynns will have a family reunion meeting April 26, 5 p.m. at the home of Mary B. Andrews.
Pork steak barbecue
Bethany United Methodist Church will have a pork steak barbecue May 9 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Plates cost $6 per plate and may be picked up at the church. Proceeds will go towards needy projects around the church and community.
Prom make-over
Girls, and their moms, can receive a makeover the day of prom, April 25, from a Mary Kay make-up specialists with a $10 donation to the Children's Miracle Network. Appointments will begin at 12 noon and will be done at the Lincoln County Library Annex. Call 706-401-1259 for an appointment.
Repub. to meet
The Lincoln County Republican Party will meet Tues., April 28, 7 p.m. at Lincolnton Baptist Church. Agenda items include school tax relief for senior citizens, the Charlie Norwood Scholarship winner and review of the Lincoln County Code process. GED/Adult classes

Southern Gospel Night
The Lincoln County Arts Council and the Lincoln-Lincolnton Chamber of Commerce invites the community to the 15th annual Southern Gospel Night, 7 p.m., April 29 at Elijah Clark State Park. Local choirs, soloists, and groups will perform with Little Roy and Lizzie Long as emcee.
Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening compliments of generous local merchants and businesses. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a free night of music!
EMT-1 class offered
The Lincoln County Dept. of Public Safety in partnership with Battalion Chief Jim Moore is hosting an EMT-I class to be taught in Lincolnton. This class will teach the EMT-I curriculum and upon completion of the class, students will be eligible to become certified as an EMT-I in Georgia (after successful testing and licensing).
Class will tentatively begin April 30 and be held two nights per week and one Sat. per month for a total of 40 hrs. per month, completing the end of October.

Basketball camp
Final applications are now being evaluated for the invitation only Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 10 - 19. Free weight loss prog. Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W, will be sponsoring a free weight loss and nutrition program conducted by Dr. Daryl Wiley each Wednesday evening from 6:45 - 7:30. Anyone who would like to live a healthier life, but cannot afford commercial weight loss programs is invited.

Gospel festival

All-you-can-eat
Huddle House is once again offering its all-you-can-eat pancakes on Wednesdays the entire month of April to help raise money for the ACS Relay for Life. The cost of the never ending supply of pancakes is $5.00.
Huddle House is also collecting empty shoe boxes for its Mother's Day shoe box distribution.
Shoe boxes are filled with items and delivered to nursing homes and shutin mothers in Lincoln County.
Please drop off an empty shoe box and/or $15.00 to the Huddle House and bring a smile to someones face on Mother's Day.
Pastor appreciation/revival

Georgia Legal Services staff will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Wed., April 22 from 11:15 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. to meet with senior citizens wanting free (noncriminal) legal help, on a first come, first serve basis.

Martins Crossroads Church Relay for Life Team has tickets available at the Lincoln County Library or the Tax Commissioner's Office for a drawing for two "Hand & Heart" quilts honoring cancer survivors and to remember those who lost the fight.
