Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Tuesday prayer

True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Southern Gospel Night

The Lincoln County Arts Council and the Lincoln-Lincolnton Chamber of Commerce invites the community to the 15th annual Southern Gospel Night, 7 p.m., April 29 at Elijah Clark State Park. Local choirs, soloists, and groups will perform with Little Roy and Lizzie Long as emcee.

Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening compliments of generous local merchants and businesses. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy a free night of music!

Camak festival

Camak Railroad Days Festival will be held April 4 with arts, crafts, food and live entertainment, classic cars, model railroad displays, a local quarry tour and rides for the children. Sunrise service

New Tabernacle Baptist Church will host the Sunday School Union's Annual Easter Sunrise Service on April 12 at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be served after the service. No other service will be held at Tabernacle on this day. Everyone is welcome. Matthew Hardin is pastor.

Easter egg hunt

Mark your calendars and make your plans for the annual John de la Howe School annual Easter Egg Hunt "Eggstravaganza" on Sat., April 4 starting at 2 p.m. at The Barn on Hwy 81 for children 10 and under.

Children between the ages of 8 and 10 will hunt for eggs beginning at 2 p.m. Children ages 4-7 will hunt for eggs starting at 2:30 p.m., while children ages 4 and younger will begin hunting at 3 p.m. There will be three prize categories for each age group. Prizes will be given at the end of each hunt for finding the most eggs, least eggs and the golden egg.

The Easter Bunny will be there to hand out prizes, and available during and after the egg hunt to have pho- tos made with the children.

This event is free and open to the public. Bring your own Easter basket! Refreshments will be provided.

Women in White

Come out and help First Baptist Church celebrate Women in White on Sat., April 25 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Shevonne Ware of Solomon Pool Holiness Church of Lincolnton. The public is invited.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

We Are Family concert

"We Are Family," a concert featuring The Lewis Family, The Easter Brothers and Jeff & Sheri Easter, will be held Tues., April 28, 6 p.m. on the property of the Lewis Family home place, 1935 Lewis Family Rd.

Bring your lawn chairs and join us for a fund-raising event for the nonprofit organization for the restoration of the home place. A $5 suggested donation will be received. For more information, please call 706-359- 1997.

Egg hunt April 11

The public is invited to participate in a free "Fun-filled" Easter egg hunt at Hicks Plantation Park on Sat., April 11 beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the most eggs found; there will be a Prize Egg; and many other activities, games and booths to participate in. Remember to bring your baskets!

Hicks Plantation Park is located at the end of Hicks Plantation Rd. on Elberton Hwy./Hwy. 79

Passion Play Sun.

Lincolnton First Assembly of God Passion Play will be held Sun., April 5 at 6 p.m. and Mon., April 6 at 7 p.m. The music and drama depicting the life of Christ is presented by the Sanctuary and Kidz Choirs. A nursery will be provided.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., April 9 at White Rock Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Lincolnton.

Board anniversarys

The anniversary of the Usher and Usherette Boards of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will be held Sat., April 11 at 6 p.m. Rev. William Bussey, pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church, will be guest minister. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Meeting cancelled

The Lincoln County Planning and Zoning meeting scheduled for Mon., April 6, has been cancelled.

The meeting will be postponed until the next regularly scheduled meeting on Mon., May 11, 2009.

Candle lighting prog.

The Women's Mission at Ebenezer invites the public to their annual Candle Lighting Program to be held April 19 at 6 p.m. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Men, Womens prog.

Pleasant Grove will have its Men and Women's Day celebration Sun., April 5 at 2 p.m. Special guest will be Dr. Jesse Johnson and Rehoboth Baptist Church family from Appling, Ga. Rev. Walter Clayton is pastor.

All-you-can-eat

Huddle House is once again offering its all-you-can-eat pancakes on Wednesdays the entire month of April to help raise money for the ACS Relay for Life. The cost of the never ending supply of pancakes is $5.00.

Huddle House is also collecting empty shoe boxes for its Mother's Day shoe box distribution.

Shoe boxes are filled with items and delivered to nursing homes and shutin mothers in Lincoln County.

Please drop off an empty shoe box and/or $15.00 to the Huddle House and bring a smile to someones face on Mother's Day.

Easter egg hunt at Post 194 Sat.

In conjunction with Relay for Life, The Courthouse Crew will sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt at American Legion Post 194 beginning at 1 p.m. on Sat., April 4. There will be prizes, games and a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. Everyone is invited. Cost is $5 per child. Remember to bring your basket.

SALS to meet

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will have its monthly meeting on April 14, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are asked to attend, plans for another turkey shoot and nominations of officers for 2009 - 2010 are coming up.

Barbecue supper

The youth group of Double Branches Baptist Church will host a barbecue supper and silent auction Sat., April 18 from 5 - 7 p.m. to raise money for camp.

Plates will cost $6 each and you may eat in, take out or have delivered to downtown Lincolnton.

The silent auction will consist of a new 42" Poulan Pro Lawn Tractor, along with some other new yard equipment and miscellaneous items for the home.

Church anniversary

Rev. Ray C. Lewis and Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220, will observe its church anniversary May 10 at 2 p.m. Rev. Dunston Phillips and Friendship Baptist Church of Appling, Ga., will be the special guests. Everyone is invited.

Men, Womens prog.

Ebenezer Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Men and Women Day program May 3, at 2 p.m. Rev. Roscoe Perry and First Mt. Carmel will be special guests. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

Reunion meeting

The Blackmons and Wynns will have a family reunion meeting on April 19, 5 p.m. at the home of Geneva Smith.

Family meeting

There will be a meeting at the home of Ruby Moore on Sat., April 4, 5 p.m. for the Hearst family.

Mid-week worship

Mid-week worship service will be held at First Baptist Church on Tues., April 7 at 7 p.m. with Evangelist Penny Quinn as speaker. Rev. Dennis J. Quinn is pastor.

Auxiliary Unit to meet

Ladies Auxiliary 194 will meet April 19, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Please remember to bring your items of macaroni and cheese, ketchup and mustard for the food pantry.

Sunrise service

Anthony Chapel will have a sunrise service April 12 at 7 a.m. with its regular fellowship breakfast to follow at 8 a.m. Everyone is invited to join us. Please come and bring someone with you.

Spring revival

Ebenezer Baptist Church will have its Spring Revival May 4 - May 6 at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Alvin Rivers will be the guest minister. The public is invited. Tues. is youth evening. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.

The Lincoln County Democratic Party will hold a very important meeting at the Lincoln County Public Library on Mon., April 6 at 7 p.m. Members, please plan to attend.

LCMS awards night

Lincoln County Middle School will host its Annual Athletics Awards Night at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 14 in the school cafeteria. All students who participated in sports during the 2008- 2009 school year are invited to attend.

Free weight loss prog.

Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W, will be sponsoring a free weight loss and nutrition program conducted by Dr. Daryl Wiley each Wednesday evening from 6:45 - 7:30. Anyone who would like to live a healthier life, but cannot afford commercial weight loss programs is invited.

Outdoor expo

Clark Hill Outdoor Expo will be held Sat., May 30 at the American Legion Fair Grounds, Lincolnton. We are looking for local talent in arts and crafts or food vendors. Quilt fundraiser

Martins Crossroads Church Relay for Life team are making a hands and heart quilt to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who lost the fight. If you would like to place a hand or heart on the quilt or sponsor one, please contact Reene - 359-7583, Hazel - 359-6507 or Marritta - 359- 7688.

Legal assistance

Georgia Legal Services staff will be in Lincoln County at The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Wed., April 22 from 11:15 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. to meet with senior citizens wanting free (noncriminal) legal help, on a first come, first serve basis.

Sign up for clean up

Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, in partnership with The Great American Cleanup/Keep Georgia Beautiful, are asking residents, youth and church groups and clubs to participate in the 2009 drive which will be held Sat., April 18 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Mobile mammography

The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department April 28 and May 26.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Tutoring available

Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.

Free tax help

Free tax help is available for taxpayers with low and middle income, with special attention to those age 60 and older, at Euchee Creek Library, 5907 Euchee Creek Dr., Grovetown, Ga., 706-556-0594, each Monday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. through April 13th.

LCCC hours

Lincoln County Convenience Center is now available Thurs. - Sat., operating hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Chicken plate sale

Loco Volunteer Fire Department will sell barbecue chicken plates April 18 starting at 10 a.m. Delivery is available on request. For delivery, contact the fire department at 359- 7715 before 10 a.m. Please come out and support our local volunteer fire fighters.

New ministry

Gospel festival

Sandy Oaks Gospel Festival featuring Leon Everette and Country Cross Band will be held at the Lazy 'J' Arena, 10 miles west of Edgefield, S.C. on Hwy. 23, May 9 at 5 p.m. Gates open at 2 p.m. Cost will be $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 - 11. Jazz concert at ASU

The Augusta State University Conservatory Program will present "A Jazz Concert and Jazzy Birthday Celebration" will be held Sat., April 18, 7:30 p.m. at Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free.

The concert is being held in recognition of Dr. John Bradley's birthday.
