Mrs. Burt took members of the sixth grade class to space camp in Huntsville, Ala., March 18-20. This is the ninth year that Mrs. Burt has taken students from Lincolnton to space camp. While there they went through the Astrotrek program which allowed them to try several outdoor and indoor simulators. They experienced space shot, g-force, the Mat training module that simulates spinning out of control in space, the 5-df chair that simulates working outside in space. The students created rockets and parachutes with test launches for each. They saw two Imax films and one 3D movie in the new building that now holds the saturn V rocket. Throughout the program they were given breifs on the history of our space program and what a working space station is like. Mrs. Burt would like to thank all the chaperones and students that made this trip such a success. It is truly something the students will never forget and I am glad we are able to give them something they will stay with them a lifetime.
