Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Spaghetti supper

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is sponsoring a spaghetti supper to benefit Eddie and Amy Roberts on Fri., March 20 in the fellowship hall from 4:30 - 7 p.m. Dinners will be $6 per plate and will be available for dining in or take out.

Little league registration

Lincoln County Little League Baseball Registration for children ages 5- 14 is now being held. You may register at the following locations: Farmers & Merchants Bank, Goldman & Wengrow, Cliatt Crossing; Lincoln County Water Department and Lincoln County Elementary School March 10 and 17.

Deadline is March 21, 2009

Skills evaluation for the following teams: minor and major league, Coach pitch and softball will be held March 21 anytime from 9 to 1 at the Lincoln County Recreation Complex. For more information call 706 401- 6476 or 706 359-2844. Opening day of the 2009 baseball season is April 18, 2009.

Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Program at Mulberry

The Mulberry C.M.E. church will be celebrating its annual Men & Womens Day on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. The guest will be Rev. L Turman and the Faith Christian Center, Washington, Georgia. Rev. George Glenn is pastor.

Golf tourney

The Lincoln County High School Athletic Booster Club Golf Tournament will be held Sat., March 21 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. For more information, call Al Holloway at 706- 359-4303.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Rev. James recognized

Rev. James James, pastor of Martins Crossroads Congregational Holiness Church has been recognized by the General Brotherhood Advance with the following honors: West Carolina District Pastor of the Year and the General Pastor of the Year for 2009.

The congregation of Martins Crossroads would like to thank Rev. James for his commited service.

Lincoln County Convenience Center is now available Thurs. - Sat., operating hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Pastor anniversary

St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church will have its Pastor Anniversary Program at 2 p.m. on March 22 at The Lincoln Center. Rev. F.D. Favors and Springfield Baptist Church of Thomson, Ga. will be in charge of the service.

Golf tourney

East Georgia Classic Golf Tournament to benefit Relay for Life, sponsored by The Citizens of Georgia Power, will be held March 30, 2009, 12:30 p.m. at Gordon Lakes, Ft. Gordon, Ga. Contact: Jeff Butterworth 706-650-5215

Registration at 11 a.m., four-man Ft. Lauderdale Scramble Format, cash prizes for first, second and third places and other exciting contests and prizes. Entry fee - $60/player-four player teams. Also, tee or green sponsors and door prizes donors encouraged!

Closed Mondays

Effective Feb. 1, the Lincoln County Health Dept. will be closed the first four Mondays of every month. Employees are being furloughed four days a month due to state budget cuts.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

New ministry

Sign up for clean up

Lincoln County and the City of Lincolnton, in partnership with The Great American Cleanup/Keep Georgia Beautiful, are asking residents, youth and church groups and clubs to participate in the 2009 drive which will be held Sat., April 18 from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department March 24 and April 28.

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Turkey shoot

The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194, will have a turkey shoot on March 13, 2009 from 7 - 10 p.m. at the American Legion Fairgrounds. For more information call Kyle Reese at 706-401-0911.

Health Fair March 21

Homer Legg Chapter of the Eastern Star (Lincolnton), Wills Memorial Hospital and MCG are hosting a health fair on March 21, 2009 at the Lincolnton Masonic Lodge on Peachtree St. There will be free cholesterol and blood sugar screenings, glaucoma and visual acuity by Wilkes Eye Center, Ht/wt with body mass index calculations, and much more. The hours will be from 9 a.m. - 12 noon.

St. Patrick's dance

The Robbie Ducey Band will perform at the Lincolnton American Legion Post 194 Sat., March 14, from 8 p.m. - 1 a.m. Cost is $10 per couple, $6 per person. For more information call 706-359-3445.

Free weight loss prog. Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W, will be sponsoring a free weight loss and nutrition program conducted by Dr. Daryl Wiley each Wednesday evening from 6:45 - 7:30. Anyone who would like to live a healthier life, but cannot afford commercial weight loss programs is invited.

Flu vaccine avail

Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.

Outdoor expo

Clark Hill Outdoor Expo will be held Sat., May 30 at the American Legion Fair Grounds, Lincolnton. We are looking for local talent in arts and crafts or food vendors. Yard sale

The Relay for Life Team Lincoln Lifers will hold a multi-family yard sale on Sat., March 21 from 8 a.m. - 12 noon at 220 N. Peachtree St. next to State Farm Office.

Reunion meeting

The Blackmon and Wynn family reunion meeting will be March 15 at the home of Mary Blackmon and March 22 at the home of Geneva Smith, both will start at 5 p.m.

Board meeting

The Lincoln County Food Pantry Executive Board will meet at the Lincoln County Public Library Thurs., March 26 at 1 p.m.

Quilt fundraiser

Martins Crossroads Church Relay for Life team are making a hands and heart quilt to honor cancer survivors and to remember those who lost the fight. If you would like to place a hand or heart on the quilt or sponsor one, please contact Reene - 359-7583, Hazel - 359-6507 or Marritta - 359- 7688.

Pre-K registration

The Lincoln County Georgia Pre- K Program will begin registration for 2009-2010 school year on Wednesday, March 18 at the Lincoln County Board of Education Office, 423 Metasville Road, beginning at 8 a.m. The Pre-K Program is for children who turn four years of age on or before September 1, 2009.

Spaces are limited and entrance is first come, first served. Children are not required to attend registration.

Parents must provide required documentation to register on March 18th.

Free tax help

Free tax help is available for taxpayers with low and middle income, with special attention to those age 60 and older, at Euchee Creek Library, 5907 Euchee Creek Dr., Grovetown, Ga., 706-556-0594, each Monday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. through April 13th.

Tutoring available

Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.

Evening service

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will be having evening service on Sat., March 21 at 5 p.m.

Gospel singing

A dynamic gospel singing will be held Sat., April 18, 6 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. Cost of tickets will be $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12.

Mortgage burning

White Rock Baptist Church will host a Mortgage Burning Ceremony worship service on Sun., March 29 at 3 p.m. Rev. Ray A. Pilgrim and St. Vaughnsville Baptist Church of Chappell, S.C., will be in charge of the services. Dinner will be served and the public is invited. Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr. is pastor.

Bake sale Sat.

The Relay for Life Team Lincoln Lifers will hold a bake sale at Bell's Food Store Sat., March 14 from 9 a.m. - 12 noon.

Conference Sat.

2009 Equipping the Saints Conference will be held at Faith Tabernacle Church, 249 Faith Lane, Lincolnton, March 12, 7:30 p.m.; March 13, 8:30 a.m., and March 14, 8:30 a.m. Cost of conference is $40. For additional information contact Dr. Dudson at 803-337-2722.

Unveiling ceremony

A historic unveiling ceremony for the Lincoln County Colored High School will take place at First Baptist Church on Sat., March 14 at 12 noon. After the ceremony, the group will march to Lincoln County Elementary School for refreshment. Rev. Willie J. White will be the guest speaker. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

CCLC to meet

The monthly meeting of the Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will be held March 19, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Guest speaker will be Mr. Reagan Williams, field representative for Congressman Paul Broun, M.D. with information about the lake levels.

Everyone is welcome. Come and be a part of the CCLC.

LWREA to meet The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m., Thurs., March 12 at the Mary Willis Library in Washington. All retired educators are invited to attend.

Country supper There will be a country cooking supper at Fishing Creek Baptist Church Sat., March 21, 6 - 8 p.m. All you can eat for $6. All proceeds will go to charity. Sponsored by the church and its Christian Service Organization.

Evening service

Gunby aquatic fund

The pool at the Curry Colvin Recreational Department named in memory ofJessie Gunby has been included as part of the cutbacks and is not scheduled to open this summer.

The committee of the "Jessie Gunby Aquatic Fund" are soliciting donations from businesses, churches, civic organization and individuals.

If you wish to make a donation, please submit pledge form and payment to the Farmers State Bank, 115 N. Washington St. Lincolnton Ga. Please make check payable to the "Jessie Gunby Aquatic Fund."

The regular monthly meeting of T.I.A./NAACP has been changed this month. They will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Mon., March 16 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. We need your presence. Please try to attend.

"Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised." The women of Price's Grove Baptist Church invites everyone to a program Sun., March 29 at 2 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear your finest Sunday hat. Refreshments will be served.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold its monthly meeting Thurs., March 12, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring the following items for the food pantry: grits, flour and corn meal.

GED/Adult classes
