The power of prayer
TO THE EDITOR
Mr. Travis Reid, Mulberry A.M.E., was chosen to give the benediction at the Board of Commissioners' Low Water meeting on February 17th at the courthouse because he knows the Lord, he knows the lake and he knows the people.
For those who missed his energetic, beseeching, life giving prayer, well, I'll just say you had to be there. Mr. Reid asked for rain and to give our officials the wisdom to know what to do with that rain.
In the last eleven days, in the midst of this prolonged drought, there have been three major rains and it is raining today. On Saturday February 28, the US Army Corps of Engineers decided to halt flows out of Thurmond Dam so the water in our lakes can come up.
One of Mr. Reid's ministries is the Food Pantry. I am going to pay homage to the Father of the rain by sending a donation. For those of you who need the address it is PO Box 473, Lincolnton GA 30817. And remember, we also know who gave Sir Isaac Newton the second law of physics, that being for every action there is an equal reaction so send a big check to Travis' attention. We need the rain. And more wisdom for that matter.
