      TO THE EDITOR Many Lincoln County citizens attended the last commissioner's meeting, it was standing room only. The speakers on the agenda spoke on several issues, some of them should have shown more respect to Chairman Johnson and followed the policies and procedures required to speak at a commissioners meeting.

As many of you may know, the pool at the Curry Colvin Recreational Complex named in memory of Jessie Gunby, has been included as part of the cutbacks and is not scheduled to open this summer.

      TO THE EDITOR In last week's Lincoln Journal, I was reading the article about the Board of Education and I thought I was reading a story out of the Wallstreet Journal. Ten thousand dollars for five laptop computers so that educated people, teachers, could check them out to use at home.

Citizens should stand by our county
      TO THE EDITOR The Lincoln County voters elected a few new government officials on November 5, 2008. Evidently the voters wanted a change in county government. The new chairman and commissioners inherited a dire economy. In trying to balance the budget they are being ostracized by some of the public.

We must trust our elected officials
      TO THE EDITOR The county commissioners know that Lincolnton, as well as the state of Georgia, are in economic hard times and they are doing everything they can to stabilize our budget. We all need to work together and try to make these changes for the good of our county.
