The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County met February 19 at the Lincoln County Public Library at 6:30 p.m. President Al Bean opened the meeting. Vice president Linda Burns welcomed members and guests. John Kennedy gave the invocation.

Our guest speakers were Henry and Barb Shelley from the Savannah Basin Organization. Both have previously worked in Washington, D.C. He for the government and she as a government teacher. They helped start the organization nine years ago. They often talk to the corp of engineers concerning the laws that govern the corp and send many emails to government officials throughout the United States concerning our lake and the laws that should be changed about the corp and the environment. They are trying to get both political parties, republicans and democrat, to work together on the lake problem.

Stated the meeting of February 17 in Lincoln County Courthouse helped to push the issues farther along. They are trying to get the governors of Georgia and South Carolina to write a resolution to congress in D. C. about the need to change the laws concerning the corp of engineers. Henry talked about how and how much Augusta used the water from Clarks Hill Lake. Questions were asked and answered by our guest speakers. They asked the CCLC members to either write or email continuously to the congress at this time to ask them to start working on the lake problem now, not later.

The CCLC thanked the Shelley's for taking the time to speak to us. This was a very informative meeting.

Discussions about the changing of the 911 to the sheriff's department. The cost will be minimal as the dispatch will be at the same place at the present time.

A member of the CCLC donated money to the sheriff's department to purchase two used cars which they have already done.

The emergency signs should be put on your mailbox. CCLC voted to pay for the signs for people who are not able to pay for the signs. A person has donated the posts if that is needed also. You may contact the President Al Bean, if needed.

A letter will be written to the county chairman and commissioners thanking them for their effort on the budget for Lincoln County.

Volunteers are needed at the Elijah State Park. If interested call President Al Bean for further information.

A request was made for volunteers at the public library in Lincoln County. Call the CCLC president or the library for more information.

A motion was made and seconded to assist, if needed, in publishing a letter in helping the citizens of Lincoln County of past and present matters that should concern the public.

Motion to adjourn. The meeting will be March 19. All citizens are welcome to attend and learn about the concerns of the county.
