Ms. Sonia Lincoln, 82, of Jones Chapel Road entered into rest Friday, February 6, 2009 at her residence.

A memorial celebration in the spring will be announced later.

She was born January 14, 1927 in Bronx, New York, attended Music and Art High School, completing her Bachelors Degree in Art History at Queens College in New York and going on to graduate study in art history at New York University. She had an insatiable curiosity and maintained a lifelong commitment to learning. After New York City, Sonia moved to Connecticut and Pennsylvania before choosing Lincolnton as her home. It is there that she realized her longtime dream of living in a peaceful rural setting.

Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn and Sarah; a son, Joshua Lincoln; three grandchildren, Hannah Lincoln and Nicole and Cory Hester.

In lieu of flowers a gift may be made in her memory to your local humane society or the Lincolnton Public Library.
