River of Life seeking nominations for homes

2009-02-19 / News

We are currently in the planning stages of the 2009 River of Life Mission Advance, which will be held June 24-28.

This year we are asking for your help in nominating homes whose owners are in need of our help. Our work is normally in one of three areas: Painting the exterior, re-shingling the roof, or building a wheelchair ramp and/or porch.

When evaluating each request, we must first determine IF we can handle the project. Then we try to select a few of each type (painting, roofing, building, and yard work) and spread our help around the county. We typically can re-shingle two single story houses, build five or six wheelchair ramps or porches, and paint the exterior of four to nine single story houses (depending if we are painting trim only, or the entire house).

We are asking for people to consider themselves and their neighbors for project nominations. If you have more than one nomination in any one area, please prioritize your nominations based on the greatest need. For example, if you have two nominations for a building project, number them 1 and 2, with 1 the most needed. Do this prioritization for each category of work.

Please note that due to equipment limitations and safety reasons for our youth, we do not re-shingle or paint two story houses, nor do we work on metal roofs. We only use latex exterior paint, and we will try to use the color of your choice. Please consider these limitations when you nominate.

Nomination forms may be picked up at the Lincolnton United Methodist Church office on Monday-Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. or anytime just inside the Church's right front door facing Peachtree Street.

You may also pick up applications at the Lincoln County Department of Family and Children Services during regular business hours. Please mail your nominations to Chuck and Leigh Beggs at P.O. Box 1157, Lincolnton, GA 30817or bring your nominations to our church (Lincolnton United Methodist) by April15, 2008.

If you have any questions, please Chuck and Leigh Beggs at 359-2545.
