Closing date for crop insurance is January 31

USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA) reminds farmers of the January 31, 2009 sales closing date for crop insurance. This sales closing date is applicable to the following crops: Fresh Market Tomatoes (Colquitt, Decatur, Grady, Mitchell and Seminole Counties) and Pecans. The sales closing date is the last date to purchase a new policy or to change the level of coverage for an existing policy.

Crop insurance is sold and delivered solely through private crop insurance agents. Contact a local Multi- Peril Crop Insurance (MPCI) agent to learn additional program details. A list of crop insurance agents is available at all USDA Serivce Centers or on the RMA website at www.usda.gov/tools/agents.
