Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
Public fellowship
True Fellowship's Women Ministry invites the public fellowship with them on Sun., Feb. 15 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Mother Mazie Parks from Parks Grove FBH Church. Come and be blessed through God's word. Bishop James Ware is pastor.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Church anniversary
Ebenezer Baptist Church Gospel Choir will celebrate its 3rd anniversary Sun., Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.
Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

LWREA to meet
The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at the Lincoln County Library, 181 N. Peachtree St., at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Feb. 12. All retired educators are invited to attend.
Public meeting
A public meeting will be held Tues., Feb. 17, 2009, 7 p.m. at the courthouse to discuss the economic impact of low water in the lake on Lincoln County businesses, citizens and governments.
All are urged to attend this meeting and share how low water has hurt them. We need to make sure that when the law is changed, it covers every problem. Interest in the meeting has been so strong that the meeting had to moved to the courthouse to hold all the interested people.
Auxiliary to meet
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 194 will meet Thurs., Feb. 12, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Please remember to bring your food items for the food pantry, these items are: cream or whole kernal corn, can tomatoes, and can vegetables.
Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.
Choir anniversary
First Baptist Church Young Adult Choir will celebrate its 15th anniversary Sun., Feb. 8 at 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Dennis J. Quinn is pastor.
Little League
Lincolnton-Lincoln County Little League is starting registration for Tball, coach pitch, minor league, major league, and junior league baseball for ages 5 - 14 and girls softball for ages 9 - 12 and 13 - 16. The registration fee is $35.00 and you can register at Farmers & Merchants Bank, Goldman & Wengrow, Lincoln County Water Department, or Cliatt Crossing. Closed Mondays
Effective Feb. 1, the Lincoln County Health Dept. will be closed the first four Mondays of every month. Employees are being furloughed four days a month due to state budget cuts.
Valentine banquet Relay for Life Valentine Banquet, sponsored by "Courthouse Crew," will be held Sat., Feb. 7, 6 p.m. at Lincolnton United Methodist Church. Cost is $10 per person and will include a meal and dinner music. Please call 706-359-5536 for ticket information.
Basketball camp

Memorial ceremony
As part of the Revolutionary Days, Sunday, February 15, Elijah Clark State Park will host a memorial ceremony to recognize Elijah Clarke's role in the Revolutionary War, especially the Battle of Kettle Creek with a black power salute at the gravesite at 11 a.m.
Following the ceremony an open house and living history will be held until 4 p.m. Guest are invited to enjoy venison stew, wassail, spice cake, hot chocolate and liberty tea.
Class meeting Sun.
Classes of 1942 - 1970 of the Lincolnton Colored High School and West Side High School will meet Sun., Feb. 8, 4:30 p.m. at the public library.

LCCC hours
Lincoln County Convenience Center is now available Thurs. - Sat., operating hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Financial aid workshop
LCHS will host a financial aid workshop for seniors and their parents in the cafeteria on Tues., Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. Linda Attebery from Georgia Student Finance Commission will present information about filing FAFSA, HOPE Scholarships and Grants, and general information about paying for college.

Consignment sale
Lincolnton Methodist Church will host a semi-annual kids consignment sale on Feb. 26-28. Anyone can sign up to be a consignor by calling the church office at 706-359-4339 or Amberly Bentley at 359-4242.
As a consignor, you receive 60% of total sold and 40% goes to the church for missions. Items accepted are gently worn children's, newborn - teens, shoes, nursery items, baby items, maternity, toys and books.

NAACP banquet
The Lincoln County Chapter of the NAACP Annual Banquet will be held on Sat., Feb. 28, 7 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. Guest speaker will be Ms. Kimberly Scott, news anchor for WJBF - Channel 6 in Augusta.

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have revival services Feb. 25 - 27 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Parent sessions
The local Child Care Resource & Referral Agency (CCR&R) will host three information sessions for parents interested in learning more about Georgia's lottery funded Pre-K program. The sessions will be held at the MCG CCR&R agency located at 1054 Claussen Rd., Suite 307 in Augusta, Feb. 24, 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. and March 7, 1-2 p.m.
Parents will learn about eligibility and registration requirements, Pre-K standards, activities, and how to choose best location for child. Parents with a special needs child will be able to meet with an Inclusion Coordinator to receive information on available services.

Coaches needed
Volunteer coaches are needed for little league. If you would like to volunteer, please attend the coaches meeting to be held at the Lincoln County Public Library Feb. 16 at 6 p.m.
Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

Evening of song

Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department January February 24 and March 24, 2009

Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
Free weight loss prog. Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W, will be sponsoring a free weight loss and nutrition program conducted by Dr. Daryl Wiley each Wednesday evening from 6:45 - 7:30. Anyone who would like to live a healthier life, but cannot afford commercial weight loss programs is invited.
SALS to meet
The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will hold their February meeting on Feb. 10, 7:30 p.m. at the post home, all members are asked to please attend.
Young Miss Pageant
The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium.
Girls in grades K-5 and living in LC, attending school in LC, or have parents working in LC are eligible.
The entry fee is $30 and due to FBLA by January 16th. Forms will be sent to the Elementary School in December and will be available in the school offices.

The Lincoln Co. Sunday School Union "Valentines Day Retreat" will be held at First Baptist Church on Sat., Feb. 14, 2009. Registration is at 9 a.m., services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. F.D. Volunteers needed
The American Cancer Society is currently seeking volunteers for the Reach to Recovery program in Lincolnton. The program provides information and support for women facing breast cancer through someone who has already been there.
Reach volunteers will be certified Sat., March 7 at the American Cancer Society located in Augusta from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sat., March 28 at McDuffie Regional Medical Center from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
