Mr. Charles Maddox Elvington, 78, of Hwy. 220 E., entered into rest January 25, 2009 at Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington, Ga.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Kalliokoski officiating.

Mr. Elvington, a native of Fulton County, was the son of the late Clarence Baxter and Anna Ruth Maddox Elvington. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam Era. He has resided in Lincolnton since 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Yoshiko "Miko" Omiro Elvington; a son, Clint Elvington of Lincolnton; and two sisters, Teri Gay and Sandi Ashley, both of Augusta.
