Annual day use passes for Corps lakes now available for purchase
      The new 2009 annual day use passes for use at U. S. Army Corps of Engineers day use recreation areas are now available for purchase at the Corps J. Strom Thurmond, Hartwell and Richard B. Russell Dam and Lake Project Offices. Passes are available for purchase from each of the Corps Lakes Visitor Centers. The fee for the annual pass is $30.

      Look Good…Feel Better is a free program that teaches female cancer patients how to cope with the appearance related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Volunteer cosmetologists lead the program that includes a 12-step skin care and makeup program as well as demonstrations on hair/wig techniques to help restore a positive self-image.

H.E.A.T. provides $1.02 million to help Georgians pay heating bills
      The Heating Energy Assistance Team (H.E.A.T.), Inc., an Atlantabased nonprofit organization that provides energy assistance statewide to low-income Georgians, announced recently that it has provided $1,020,649 to the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) to assist qualified families who are unable to pay their heating bills.

Crop disaster prog. sign-up end Feb. 27
      The USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) Administrator Teresa Lasseter announced that the sign-up period for the 2005-2007 Crop Disaster Program (CDP) will end Feb. 27, 2009. The ending date of Feb. 27 applies to the receipt of a signed and completed FSA-840 application along with all supporting documentation and required forms at the applicable county FSA office.
