Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
Missionary service Ebenezer Baptist Church Gospel The Missionary Ministry of Harmony Baptist Church will be hosting their 3rd Annual Missionary Service on Sun., Feb. 1 at 3 p.m. Rev. Alvin Rivers and St. Luke Baptist Church in Lincolnton will be in charge of the service. All are welcome. Come out and be blessed! Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Church anniversary
Choir will celebrate its 3rd anniversary Sun., Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman is pastor.
Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.
Anniversary prog. Mulberry C.M.E. will hold its Stewart and Trustee Anniversary Program on Sun., Jan. 25 at 10:45 a.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist E. Louise Durrette. Everyone is welcome.
Williams book signing
Lincoln County native, Denise Williams (class of 1987) will be at the Lincoln County Library Sat., Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. to sign copies of her new book, "It's Time to Arise." The book deals with her struggles of abandonment issues and physical and emotional abuse. The public is invited to attend.
Community sing
The Lincoln County Ministerial Association will sponsor a Community Singing on Sunday night, January 25th at 7:00 pm at First Assembly of God.
There will be a community choir practcice at 6:00 pm. Anyone is welcome to attend the choir practice. Anyone that would like to sing a special song is asked to contact Rev. Terry Bonds at 359-7237 or Rev. Dan Rosser at 359-3303.

Installation service
Tabernacle Baptist Church cordially invites the community to attend the Pastor Installation Service of Rev. Ray C. Lewis, on Sun., Feb. 1, 2009 at 3 p.m. Rev. Jesse W. Johnson and Rehoboth Baptist Church family of Appling, Ga. will be in charge of the services.
Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.
League registration
Lincolnton-Lincoln County Little League is starting registration for Tball, coach pitch, minor league, major league, and junior league baseball for ages 5 - 14 and girls softball for ages 9 - 12 and 13 - 16. Devil Darling Pageant
The Devil Darling Pageant will be held at the Lincoln County High School auditorium on Thursday, January 22 at 8 p.m.
Admission is students $2.00; adults $3.00.

Closed Mondays
Effective Feb. 1, the Lincoln County Health Dept. will be closed the first four Mondays of every month. Employees are being furloughed four days a month due to state budget cuts.
Anniversary program
Deacon and Deaconess Anniversary will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church Sun., Jan. 25 at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Gold Walton of Washington, Ga., will be the guest minister. Everyone is invited. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.
Career Fair at LCHS
The Guidance Dept. of LCHS will host a Career Fair for students Mon., Jan. 26 in the cafeteria from 3:30 - 6 p.m.
This fair is specifically for students whose career interests do not require a 4-year degree. Presenters will represent fields that may require a 2-year degree, diploma, certificate from a technical school or on the job training.

Financial aid workshop
LCHS will host a financial aid workshop for seniors and their parents in the cafeteria on Tues., Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. Linda Attebery from Georgia Student Finance Commission will present information about filing FAFSA, HOPE Scholarships and Grants, and general information about paying for college.

Class of 72 to meet
West Side Elementary and High School class of 1972 will meet again on Sat., Jan. 31 at Picadilly on Washington Rd. in Augusta at 5 p.m. to make plans for a reunion to be tentatively held June 5 & 6.

Consignment sale
Lincolnton Methodist Church will host a semi-annual kids consignment sale on Feb. 26-28. Anyone can sign up to be a consignor by calling the church office at 706-359-4339 or Amberly Bentley at 359-4242.
As a consignor, you receive 60% of total sold and 40% goes to the church for missions. Items accepted are gently worn children's, newborn - teens, shoes, nursery items, baby items, maternity, toys and books.

Parent sessions
The local Child Care Resource & Referral Agency (CCR&R) will host three information sessions for parents interested in learning more about Georgia's lottery funded Pre-K program. The sessions will be held at the MCG CCR&R agency located at 1054 Claussen Rd., Suite 307 in Augusta, Feb. 24, 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. and March 7, 1-2 p.m.
Parents will learn about eligibility and registration requirements, Pre-K standards, activities, and how to choose best location for child. Parents with a special needs child will be able to meet with an Inclusion Coordinator to receive information on available services.

Parent walk through
A parent walk through will be held at Lincoln County High School Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Parents will report to their child's 1st block class at 6:30 and walk through a brief version of their child's schedule. Classes will last 10 minutes each with a brief description of the class followed by a short question/answer session.
All parents are encouraged to come and meet your child's second semester teachers.
Free weight loss prog.
Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W, will be sponsoring a free weight loss and nutrition program conducted by Dr. Daryl Wiley each Wednesday evening from 6:45 - 7:30. Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department January 26 and February 24, 2009

Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
Living with diabetes
The public is invited to a free educational series "Living with Diabetes" sponsored by Wills Memorial Hospital, in the WMH Nash Library Jan. 22 from 5 - 7 p.m.

Young Miss Pageant
The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium.
Girls in grades K-5 and living in LC, attending school in LC, or have parents working in LC are eligible.
The entry fee is $30 and due to FBLA by January 16th. Forms will be sent to the Elementary School in December and will be available in the school offices.

Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.

SALS to meet
The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will hold their February meeting on Feb. 10, 7:30 p.m. at the post home, all members are asked to please attend.
Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.
