Basic boating course offered

The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron will be teaching The Basic Boating Course in February consisting of four consecutive Tuesday and Friday afternoon sessions at the McCormick Public Library located at: 201 Railroad Avenue, McCormick, SC.

Classes are from 1400-1700 hours (2-5pm) on Feb. 24, Feb. 27, and March 3. The last class will be on March 6, from 1200-1500 hours (12- 3pm). Advance registration is required to attend these classes!

The Basic Boating course is an eight hour comprehensive course for new boaters which cover all aspects of boating: right of way, boat handling, docking, anchoring, required equipment, safety, state laws, safety, aids to navigation - and more.

The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron is part of the United States Power Squadron and is dedicated to promoting boating safety. The Basic Boating Course is taught as a public service. Our qualified instructors teach for free. Your cost is for materials and books only: $25 a person or $30 a couple.
