H.J. "Jim" Turner Jr.
MR. H.J. TURNER JR. Mr. H.J. "Jim" Turner, Jr., beloved husband, father, and grandfather, entered into rest on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009 at Wilkes Health Care Center, Washington, Ga. He was 80 years old.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January, 11, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Augusta, Ga. with Rev. Dan Rosser officiating.
Mr. Turner, son of the late H.J. and Effie Murrel Turner, was a native of Charleston, S.C., a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and had retired from Savannah River Site. He had lived in the Augusta area most of his life and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. Jim was a hard working man who loved God, his family and his fellow man. He dedicated his life to his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. His strong work ethic was passed on to his children. Proof of that can be seen in the way that his children and grandchildren have lived their lives.
He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Michelle.
Survivors include his wife, June Jensen Turner; daughters, Sherry Stewart and husband, Vernon of North Augusta, S.C., and Cindy Youngblood and husband, David, of Martinez, Ga.; sons, Dr. H.J. "Rocky" Turner, III and wife, Janet, of Spartanburg, S.C., Dr. Steve Turner of Atlanta, Ga., Dale Turner of Lincolnton, Randy Turner and wife, Jodi, of Appling, Ga., and Stanley Turner and wife, Candy, of Appling; brother, Ted Turner of Ohio; sisters, Mae Pendleton of St. Mary's, Ga. and Betty Kennedy of Irmo, S.C.; grandchildren, Dr. V. Brooks Stewart, Krista Durtschi, Kimberly Brown, Clay Turner, Hart Turner, Jensen Turner, Jacqueline Odum, Dylan Turner, Jessie Turner, Ben Turner, Cody Turner, Stacy Oester, Melissa Puryear, and Amir Turner; and six great-grandchildren.
