Strong winds keep road department busy
Wind gusts of up to 50 mph and sustained winds at between 25 and 35 mph took their toll in Lincoln County Wednesday, January 7. Pictured is a truck that was hit by a tree as it traveled south on Highway 79. The damage was estimated at $15,000, and the driver sustained minor injuries. According to Ernie Doss, public safety director for Lincoln County, his office received 17 reports of downed trees, two reports of grass fires caused by trees falling on power lines, and several reports of power outages.
