JAMES EDWARD AYCOCK JAMES EDWARD AYCOCK Mr. James Edward Aycock, 86, of Elam Heights entered into rest on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at University Hospital, Augusta, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Rosser officiating. Interment followed in the Lincolnton City Cemetery.

Mr. Aycock, son of the late Boyd M. and Lucy Martin Aycock, was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired logger/ sawmiller. He was a member and Deacon of Lincolnton Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, and former Worshipful Master of the Lincolnton Masonic Lodge F&AM #354. Recently, he had received a pin and apron for fifty years of Masonic service.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Boyd M. Aycock, Barney A. Aycock, Sr. and a sister, Vivian A. Reed.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Wright Aycock; a son, Alex Aycock of Lincolnton; two daughters, Cindy A. Chastain and husband, Charles and Faith A. Hill and husband, Mark, all of Lincolnton; a sister, Lydia A. Jones of Lincolnton; six grand- children, Jameson Chastain, Chad Aycock, Lex Aycock, Elizabeth Aycock, Amanda Hill and Barbara Hill; and five great-grandchildren, Travis Gunn, C.J. Aycock, Adam Chastain, Ali Aycock and Lexi Aycock.

Pallbearers were Alva Aycock, Bobby Aycock, Chad Aycock, Lex Aycock, Don Cartledge, Jameson Chastain and John Ludwig.
