Goldman takes top honors at steer show

C.J. Goldman won Grand and Reserve Champion honors at the Bulldawg Showdown Steer Show held at the UGA Livestock Instructional Arena in Athens. C.J. Goldman won Grand and Reserve Champion honors at the Bulldawg Showdown Steer Show held at the UGA Livestock Instructional Arena in Athens. Lincoln Co. 4-H Show team had a busy weekend on December 13-14, 2008 at the UGA Livestock Instructional Arena. Show team members and their steers and heifers were turning heads throughout the weekend.

Three livestock shows were held during the weekend with the UGA Block and Bridle Heifer between the Hedges held first on Saturday December 13, 2008.

Lincoln Co. 4-H'ers Ivie Aycock and Bentley Beggs exhibited three heifers in this show. Ivie Aycock exhibited two commercial heifers and placed second and fifth while Bentley Beggs exhibited a Chi Influence heifer and placed second.

Congratulations to Ivie and Bentley for a great job of exhibiting their livestock projects.

The Bulldawg Showdown Steer show took place on Sunday December 14, 2008 with six Lincoln Co. Showteam members exhibiting some of the finest steers in the state of Georgia. With over 50 participants in the steer show from across the state, Lincoln Co. showteam member C.J. Goldman and his two steers Rellik Class 6 winner (1244lbs) and Class 4 winner (1139lbs.) swept the competition by taking Grand and Reserve Champion honors for the entire show. Judge Levi Douglass from Texas A&M University was clearly impressed by the outstanding quality of C.J. Goldman's two steers.

Congratulations C.J. for this outstanding accomplishment.

Results for the Bulldawg Showdown are as follows: Class 2 Tanner Aycock third place (942lbs.); Class 3 Ivie Aycock third place (1075lbs); Class 4 C.J. Goldman first place (1139lbs.); Dalton Tankersley third place (1121 lbs.); Class 5 Dalton Tankersley second place (1185 lbs.); Class 6 C.J. Goldman first place (1244lbs.); and Hattie Collins fifth place 1222 lbs.

Lastly, the Lincoln Show team was not finished, the Livestock Judging Jackpot show concluded the weekend's festivities with livestock exhibitor's competing for more awards and prizes. UGA Livestock team members did a fantastic job of judging this years show.

The judges selected C.J. Goldman and his steer Rellick Chi Influence Champion, for the overall Reserve Champion Steer Award.

In addition Lincoln Co. Show team had one other breed champion and one reserve breed champion they were Dalton Tankersley with his Simmental steer and C.J. Goldman with his Maine Reserve Champion steer.

Results for the Jackpot Steer Show go as follow: Class 4 Chi Influence, Dalton Tankersley third place; Class 5 C.J. Goldman first place; Class 8 Maine, Bentley Beggs second place; Class 9 Maine, C.J. Goldman second place; Class 10 Simmental, Tanner Aycock second place; Class 11 Simmental, Dalton Tankersley first place, Hattie Collins second place; Class 13 Crossbred, Ivie Aycock second place.
